The pressure the D had on our QB was just as bad as usual, we just had Brohm who was getting rid of the football faster, and Marve who was running away from the pressure, which tells me our Oline was not doing much better then usual. I think Cotton is just getting his groove back finally now that he's getting reps and starting to read the defense better. You're right, it is just one game, but I think if they keep giving Cotton the ball, he'll really show when he can do. Also, the first game we played was against Toronto when they were at their worst. That's when Grigsby ran all over them. This was against one of the best teams in the league, who just came off fresh from a buy week.

Well I guess we should be all happy now that we have a good running back. Puzzling how O'Shea did not figure that out 10 weeks ago. We would surely be in the playoffs instead of being out looking in. It was not very nice of him to tell us everything about the team was cool when a guy was doing bugger all was not replaced sooner by another able to rip up the yards. How can you explain that. By your inattention to that issue you might want to take some credit for the fans who did not show up at the game.

The feeling here is that Cotton has gotten his groove after after one game so had he been put in say in late August there were three games where Grigsby got a total of 73 yards. With Cotton fine tuned we could have won at least three games. As one reminded me yesterday he ran against the best well rested defense and look what he did. The main reason he did very well was the oline played better and the QB's were not known from films like things were at the start of the year. Let's get this straight. My beef has never been about the running back but with our Oline. They showed up to play last night after two months of snoozing. It's not about Grigsby vs Cotton. Cotton might be a better back and if that's the case that's great. It would also appear we will be able to see what Grigsby will do with another team.

Interesting also was for the most part, Cotton either avoided or bounced off first contact. This is a very desirable trait in a RB, Grigsby at times was unable to shed the first tackler. It doesn't mean Cotton is better but it certainly is something to be excited about. I liked what I saw from him last night.

Yes he looked much better than Grigsby ever has here. I hope his play continues he was very promising in TC but did squat in the regular season up until last night. Nice to see
October 19, 201410 yr comment_89669 As great as it was to see a back break tackles and make TD's, we won't know how good Cotton can be until we have a decent O-line and the scores in games are close enough that running the ball is an option. The O-line wasn't great last night by any means, but it was a heck of a lot better than it has been, so we have hope. BC will be forewarned and may prove tougher to run against, so I hope we will see Cotton catch a few swing passes.

You don't lose 7 in a row just because your running back can't break tackles. #otherissues The entire offense would have had a much easier time with a back who could have put us into 2nd and 5 or 6 consistently vs getting nothing on most of his carries and the odd 40 yard burst. Teams have literally been teeing off on our offensive line and Willy because we had no running threat, and Grigsby didn't make anyone second guess a blitz cause all they had to do was make contact to get him down, he couldn't make anyone miss or fight through contact so literally no threat to get past that first wave on a blitz. IMO, we probably win 2-3 more games with a running threat like Cotton was last night.

Grigsby could have remained a locker room cancer even after his departure had Cotton not quickly shown that he is clearly the better back. He did, and now all the Grigsby hub-bub will be quickly forgotten.
