  • Agreed. Glad to see Suber get a chance to play. He deserves it, nothing but a class act while he was here.

  • I'm happy for Suber, he deserves the chance to play.

  • Don't really care too much about what we get back. Just happy Suber gets a chance to play. Quintessential Winnipeg Blue Bomber: Great player on the field, even better community guy off it. Best of luc

@PentonKirk: The #Argos were very high on Gibson before the season. This trade tells you he's not what they were hoping for. #Bombers

orrrrrrr they realize they have more depth on DL than they do in the secondary. Tim Burke is very familiar with Suber and with then sending anderson packing maybe he asked them to make a play for Suber to get another vet to plug in.

Thaddeus Gibson
6'2, 243 pounds | Outside linebacker | Ohio State

Strengths:
Has very good quickness off the snap. Builds on his quickness around the edge and is a dangerous closer. Gets really low on his pass rush to move under the tackle. Works really well to the inside on stunts because of his athleticism. Can start and stop on a dime. Makes a lot of plays in the backfield. Good tackler. He's not the biggest player, but he's stronger than his size suggests. He has enough power to hold his spot on the line.

Weaknesses: Will need to shift from college defensive end to pro outside linebacker. Even though he started his college career at linebacker, there may be some period of adjustment, particularly in his technique. Has already put 35 pounds onto his frame since starting college and may be maxed out. Shows some poor run recognition skills and at times looks uninterested. Bites a lot on misdirection. may struggle to learn a playbook – needed a teammate to move him to the correct gap too often.

Final word: Gibson was a surprise early entrant in the draft. At this point in his development, he may purely be a pass rusher. He struggles reading run keys and is an unknown in pass coverage. He's almost exclusively a 3-4 linebacker and will need to be coached up.

Translation: athletic but dumb.

Good trade.. Spare parts for spart parts... Hope this works out for suber as he not only was a solid player for us but pure class act in general...

Thaddeus Gibson………...  229822.jpg………….Hopefully an aptly named future award?

I'm not personally familiar with Gibson, but we have a weakness on the Dline, the Argos have a weakness in the secondary plus Suber gets a chance to get on the field. Seems like a win for all involved.

Two small men with good hearts being traded for each other.

Suber is a poor man's Richie Hall - Hall was small but fairly effective over his career. Suber is enthusiastic but too often found himself in chase positon. Perhaps a product of working behind suspect d-lines.

Thaddeus doesn't really fit the profile of what the Bombers need most. A heavy set killer who can push back strong o-line blockers and create mayhem in the opponent's backfield (ie. Doug Brown type, Bill Baker, that guy who breaks arms in BC)

Even our best bullrushing d-lineman Zach Anderson was pretty much controlled and over-powered by Bigboy Heenan. .... so I suspect Gibson is one of those guys who rarely takes the bull route to the QB - more of a juke 'n jagger like O'Dell Willis. Trouble is by the time this type of guy takes his circuitious route to the QB too much time has elapsed and most CFL QBs have released the pigskin by the time a perimeter guy arrives.

An american db for an american DL.. sounds about right to me. Argos lack DB depth, We lack DL depth, win win.

Wish suber nothing but the best, that guy is definitely all class, one of the more fan friendly bombers on twitter.

I will echo the prior sentiments about Gibson. I like him, other than the fact that he is a Buckeye.

The Argos have done a fantastic job continuing to re-build their defensive line over the past couple of years. Okpalaugo is a stud, who will probably be an off-season cut as per team NFL policy.

Gibson may fit in very well with an Etcheverry designed defence.  Etch's schemes are based on speed and athleticism more then power and size.

No worries there. Etch doesn't have a playbook. :D

Both players got a new leash of life especially Suber. He is a veteran who haven't seen a snap yet this year. He can definitely start right away for Toronto since he's familiar with Burke's D.

What?

I dont know if its grammatically correct. Lol.

But both players are burried and forgotten and rotting on the depth chart.... well, like dead.

I LOLed anyhow.....so great.

Nice to get rid of Suber's salary since he wasn't playing.  Would rather have Hall at DE than Gibson.  I guess it doesn't have anything to do with not having a place for him.

The reason you're wrong THIS time, is because you assume Hall and Gibson are the same player...

Maybe Hall is still waiting for some NFL opportunities and not rushing back to the CFL.

Alex Gibson and Thaddeus Hall are not the same player?

Might as well add Philip McIntyre and Garrett Hunt in the conversation.
