Have they tried to revive Miami Vice yet?

The Dallas revival was actually pretty good.  A bit too night time soap operaish but you could tell the show runners loved the original.  It lost something when Hagman died and they had to write out JR.  He was tremendous in that series, even at his age.  Loved his line "Blood is thicker than water.  But oil is thicker than both."

I watched that first season with Hagman but when he died I wasn't interested anymore. As soon as Hagman died that series was finished. He carried that show as the supporting new characters were weak in comparison to the original series. Patrick Duffy wasn't able to carry the new showon his own  the way Hagman did. He didn't have the same presence on screen & his character Bobby was a nice guy. In the original series, he balanced off JR's ruthlessness & lack of morality.  Without JR, Bobby was just a weak Goody Two Shoes.

Victoria Principal wasn't part of the new shoe & neither was Steve Kanaly who played Ray Krebbs on the original show. He was the half brother of Bobby & JR & he was looked down upon by JR who never considered him an equal or entitled to any of the estate of their father. Leaving Kanaly & Principal out were mistakes.

To me, the new series was okay but not great.

Kanaly was in the revived series.  I think pretty much everyone from the original made appearances.  I liked that they didnt just focus on the "kids".  Even casting Mitch Pileggi, Lee Majors, Judith Light etc.  And while I hated John Ross at first, the actor really grew on me.  And Emma Bell turned out to be a lot better than she seemed at first.  They even had the Knots Landing cast appear.

The storyline of JR arranging his own death seemed pretty goofy though.  But it was funny in that it implicated Cliff, didnt it?  lol  Oh, JR!

The new series was so long ago that I forget who was in it.

I wonder if they would have revived Knots Landing as well had the Dallas revival gone further....nah if the Melrose Place semi revival didn't work I doubt that a Knots Landing revival would have gone far

I thought she was already a series regular ah well I guess that would make sense if she was upped considering the events that happened at the end of the third season

man first Pete now Colin? (though Colin's reason is very likely different, Pete Davis might want out due to a toxic work environment which btw is not exactly unheard of considering the horror stories I've heard about Chevy)

except I don't see Orlando Brown returning considering that he has been in a bit of legal trouble as of late

I wonder if they'll reuse the old theme theme song.....or get someone else to do it because it's not 2001 anymore (they had Destiny's Child and Solange Knowles do the theme song)

I can't imagine they have anything to say. They were edgy and fearless in the day. Now?

I have no such fear, really looking forward to their take on modern times, hopefully they don't just regurgitate their past success like Monty Python chose to.   Such a pitiful output for their immense talent, mostly caused by their failure to find consensus on almost any projects for decades, now it's too late.

Monty Python was 50 years ago.
