I'm guessing this will air on CTV Comedy? maybe I'll check it out, Much aired Daria briefly (but didn't finish it) I have the complete series set, maybe I'll revisit it just for fun before this show premieres, I haven't watched it in 8 years and I bought the dvd set 6 years ago, I actually got to watch the rest of the final season hours before my parents and I left Grand Forks and headed for home after our annual vacation

I wonder what randomizer thing they'll do (I don't see them bringing back sick sad world for this since this will revolve around Jodie)

I know I'm late to the party, but I've found myself off work for a bit and I've been bingeing Hank Azaria's Brockmire. Really enjoying it for the most part. Some of the hardcore "partying" is a little intense for me, but all of the baseball stuff and cameos from some legendary broadcasters is pretty great. Quite a few LOL moments...

For those interested, CBC is re-airing the 2015 mini drama series “The Book of Negroes” starring Aunjanue Ellis, Cuba Godding Jr, Louis Gossett Jr, and Jane Alexander.

The first episode airs Sunday, July 26

Overview -

“Taken from her West Africa village and dragged in chains to the coast, 11-year-old Aminata Diallo is sold into slavery. After a horrific ocean crossing to South Carolina, she uses her midwifery skills to survive while keeping at bay the attention of slave master Robinson Appleby. Though she finds some happiness -- she marries and has a child ..Aminata vows to return home after she and her child are sold to different owners. The onset of the Revolutionary War helps Aminata flee her new owner in New York. Knowing how to read and write, she lands a job registering Black Loyalists for escape to freedom in Nova Scotia. Though her heart longs for home, Aminata weighs desire against the need to help her people and end the slave trade.”

It receives good reviews.

Brutal to watch but a very good series.

FYI trivia:

A slave ship en route to the US during the Revolutionary War was intercepted by the British navy and was told they could not deliver their human cargo. Not having the food or water on board to go anywhere else and being humane enough to not throw the captives overboard, they decided to detour to Nova Scotia where they stopped and dumped ashore the slaves. These were from several different racial groups with no common language and were taken in by the locals, fed and sheltered. As the months went by, the disparite people learned to speak Gaelic.

Eventually, the British decided this wouldn't do, so they sent a ship, gathered up the former captives and transported them to the coast of what is now Mauritania.  The Brits were kind enough to provide these folks with the means to build a community- tools, food, seeds and so forth, so they did, and flourished.

So, today there is a black costal community in Mauritania where the inhabitants all speak Gaelic

Gonna need proof on this story. Googling 'Nova Scotia British Mauritania slaves' comes up empty.

All i know is that Mauritania was the last country on Earth to ban slavery.

I cannot find any relevant website infromation, either. I could have the African country wrong, as IIRC, I heard the article some 30 years ago on As It  Happens on CBC radio. I looked for any references to Africans being returned to Africa and found some, but the country was Liberia, which apparently took its name from frred slaves returning.
