January 29, 201411 yr comment_36171 I remember Bucknor's name, but not a lot about his performance. Dropping from a regular starter in 2012 to a part time player in 2013 doesn't sound promising, although to be fair it's generally harder for a Canadian to get playing time in the secondary. I wonder if this is a case of Aprile not wanting to come back, or if Walters knows we're getting a few of our Canadian receivers back and doesn't need him.
January 29, 201411 yr Author comment_36174 To me, this is a good replacement for Dan West. Definite upgrade there. I could have predicted this reaction but hey, we wanted experience and we wanted Canadian depth. This is both of those things.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36176 SP teams guy who in a pinch during a game can go in a play corner. They wanted to upgrade CND depth these types of moves do that. Get a guy you know can play for guy that you are not sure if ever becomes a player.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36180 Just so not a fan of signing Hamilton DBs... they are the worst in the league with or without Creehan. I thought we learned from the Bo Smith experiment. And there is no way we should have to trade to 'upgrade' Dan West... ha

January 29, 201411 yr Author comment_36191 Having a non import dimeback could be a big time boost to our roster IF he can fill that role
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36193 I was hoping to see Aprile back but me I think this all but guarantees Kolhert will be back.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36206 People freaking out like Bucknor will be a starting DB Freaking out because we dumped another prospect for a guy who might have one or two more years in the league... as a special teamer...
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36208 I never got the love for Aprile. To me he's a decent athlete in search of a position. He's likely a career special teamer.

January 29, 201411 yr comment_36213 Bucknor for Aprile works for me as it seems interest from Aprile plummeted after the failed switch-to-safety fiasco. Now we can better see the behind the scenes backdrop for signing NI receivers Brescacin and Feoll-Gudino.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36220 To me, this is a positive development. I figured Aprile would "retire" to pursue his teaching career or what ever it was and then eventually show up on the Ticats PR. Getting something for him is a pleasant surprise.

I could have predicted this reaction but hey, we wanted experience and we wanted Canadian depth. This is both of those things. What's your opinion of Dan West based on? A very mild upgrade, if at all.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36224 As long as he does not take out Watson in practice Bucknor right there is a upgrade.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36226 Aside from it looking as though Aprile wasn't planning on playing here, this is another meh trade. Happy to see that Walters is being proactive, but IMO making moves just for the sake of it, isn't going to make our team much better.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36236 Bucknor is moderately usefull and experienced but wasnt going to get much playing time here. HAM needs CDN depth at rec., trade makes sense.
January 29, 201411 yr comment_36288 http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/2014/01/breaking-down-the-bucknor-trade-and-collaros-on-the-loose.html Aprile did separate his shoulder late in 2013... maybe there is something more to it.
