June 24, 201411 yr comment_60032 From the Scratching Post: Stadium will be ready - but far from done - for Ticats opener The delayed Pan Am Stadium will be useable for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' home opener July 26, but will be far from finished, city and team officials said Tuesday morning. At a joint press conference held at City Hall, public works general manager Gerry Davis and Ticats president and chief operating officer Glenn Gibson assured the media the game would go on. "You buy a house in a great new subdivision and you're all excited, and the house is great, but you look out the window and you still have to do the lawn. I liken this to that," Davis said. "It will still be a construction site." The stadium was initially set for completion at the end of June, but that deadline was not met due to bad winter weather and contractor issues. Now, the city says the field will be able to host a game on July 26, but many aspects of the stadium — including vendors, bathrooms and landscaping — will be incomplete. "It's a quick turnaround," Gibson said. "We're pulling out all the stops." The field and the seats will be ready and the seats are in place, he said. The new target for substantial completion is early October, Davis said. http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/2014/06/stadium-will-be-ready-but-far-from-done-for-ticats-opener.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thespec%2FDRCe+%28The+Scratching+Post%29 Who needs bathrooms?? Just set up a bunch of porto-potties like at beautiful Moasic stadium!

June 24, 201411 yr comment_60042 Aren't they glad that we were put out as the ground-breaking poster boys for inefficiency around the league, when it comes to stadium construction, ?
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60045 At least we didn't have these probs LOL ... http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/news/residents-seething-over-late-night-construction-at-stadium-site-1.2630355

Don't work at night and host one or two more game out of town. Of course that won't happen....
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60064 Bunch of whining residents. No formal complaints. just whining from busybodies who want to get on the news.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60069 Wait to see if they get permits to open in that state. IGF barely got the permits for the pre-season game last year, and they had to do a bunch of work in 3 days to get them, and that was a completed stadium. There's always little issues that crop up with the inspectors, and more chance of that happening with an incomplete structure.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60073 I'm surprised that they are able to host a game with the stadium in that state.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60076 Going to lose a pile of money if concessions are not fully functional till October.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60110 Apparently they wont have a scoreboard either. Will they hand out Abacus's as a home opener knickknack?? They are applying for a permit July 15th and hope to have the permit by the 21st...... Yikes that's cutting it close.
June 24, 201411 yr Author comment_60115 Aren't they glad that we were put out as the ground-breaking poster boys for inefficiency around the league, when it comes to stadium construction, ? Looks good on Bob Young for delaying the process over a year. No bathrooms, what?? Ridiculous.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60132 …………….Should be done real soon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ……………………………………………………………Just over here………………
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60135 The Ticats, Bob Young and the City of Hamilton will never get sympathy from me. They could have built the stadium in a much better location and not have to deal with going to Guelph for a season or this latest issue, which a lot of people saw coming. Ottawa started building TD Place a year before Hamilton started on THF and it clearly shows. Tim Hortons Field TD Place
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60138 Kinda makes you feel more forgiving towards the IGF construction process, doesn't it? Doesn't excuse the bare-faced lies about the completion date, though.
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60141 Hamilton is a joke with this. So wonder if Collaros still feels this is a better field?
June 24, 201411 yr comment_60142 This "should" put a muzzle on some of the Hammy fans (ie, onemoredork) who troll CFL boards. They love taking pot shots at the IGF construction failures. It'll be tough to continue throwing rocks from that glass house they're living in now.

Ottawa started building TD Place a year before Hamilton started on THF and it clearly shows. Tim Hortons Field TD Place Caretaker Bob has treated his fans like garbage. He never put a cent into Tim Hortons Field. He hated every location the city wanted. He delayed construction for over a year. Took the team to Guelph & played in a dinky little amateur stadium. Now this.
June 25, 201411 yr Author comment_60179 I will say this, TD Bank Stadium is a unique looking stadium.
June 25, 201411 yr comment_60189 Tim Horton's Field looks like a 1960's stadium that is being torn down in that pic LOL ...
June 25, 201411 yr comment_60210 Caretaker Bob has treated his fans like garbage. He never put a cent into Tim Hortons Field. He hated every location the city wanted. He delayed construction for over a year. Took the team to Guelph & played in a dinky little amateur stadium. Now this. I don't know how you can say Young treated the fans like garbage and where the heck were they supposed to play last season. The Hamilton mayor and council are as much to blame for the delays as anyone. The way their mayor was dealing with this is one of the reasons he wasn't re-elected and their new mayor was able to get a deal very quickly. And how exactly is Young responsible for construction delays when he isn't the one overseeing the construction.
June 25, 201411 yr comment_60212 I will say this, TD Bank Stadium is a unique looking stadium. It looks like one of those cars chop shops sell where they literally weld two cars together. One grandstand in 1950's-1960's style, and one in 2010's style.
June 25, 201411 yr Author comment_60215 Jacquie, Caretaker Bob wanted to be treated as a partner & not a tenant. He always talked about how he'd put money into a new stadium in a couple of publc letters he released. Yet in reality, he never put in a cent. If Young wanted a say in the stadium, then Mr. Billionaire should have ponied up. Putting in $30 million of his own money would have given him a say in just about everything including location. He never spent a penny. He wasn't a partner. He was a tenant. He wanted everything his way for free & why should he have got that? Well, what did Caretaker Bob do? He rejected EVERY site the city chose. He ended up taking the Ti Cats out of town to Guelph for an entire season into a facility that was less than half the size of Ivor Wynne Stadium.. Now, Tim Horton's Field won't be finished until October. I agree everyone is to blame here for the fiasco but the most blame is pointed in Young's direction. He got a new stadium for free & even that wasn't good enough.
