Anyone watch the Canada-Finland game last night?  I guess there are more players on Team Canada than Cowan and that McKenna kid but I don't know who they are, other than the goalie's mom who was a curler and was shown at the game with a drink in her hand (lol).  I am hoping Yager is more visible next game, saw him out there but didn't see him doing much.

It was a good game, but yeah Finland played very defensively.   Finnish goalie was very good... faced 40 shots.   Carter George for Canada was equally good and Finns had some good chances.    No surprise that the players of the game were both goaltenders.

I agree that Canada will get better as the tourney moves on.  Next two games are against Latvia and Germany.   You're gonna see some firepower tonight.   All sets up for the New Years Eve clash against the USA.

What was going on in that shoot out for Canada with all those dipsy doodle dekes that the Latvian goalie just sat there waiting for? Does no one teach these kids how to shoot anymore? In the words of the late Herb Brooks, the Canadians looked like a monkey humping a football out there tonight.

Canada was awful. Shots on goal were wildly misleading... Canada had very few quality scoring chances. Terrible nonchalant effort... Deserved to lose for sure.

Great game plan and well executed by the Latvians. Canada had no real answer. They were celebrating like they won the tournament, which in a way this was their superbowl win. Imagine if they could now knock off the Americans. Wow. Don’t see it happening but also didn’t see them beating Canada.

It would be nice to see them beat the Americans, but they will likely get shredded.  The Latvians played as well as they possibly could…. The odds of them maintaining that level are slim to none.  And there’s bound to be a let down after such a monumental win.

Canada was lazy and disinterested... Nothing more or less. Don't give Latvia any credit... Canada lost, plain and simple. Latvia didn't win it.

Nope I give Latvia some credit. They came in with a game plan, neutralized the middle, sticks and bodies in the shooting lanes, made good on their few offensive chances on the PP, got great goaltending, never gave up resulting in a win.

Canada's pp has been awful.  Bonk should not be quarterbacking the PP.  There's another guy on the roster that is a 10 times better special teams in Sam Dickinson... But he didn't even get a sniff of the power play.

The pp was just as bad against Finland as it was against Latvia.

Well, Canada didn't have a majority of threatening shots. The Latvian goalie stood tall when they did.  Got to give them credit.

All through the exhibition, too... Dog **** PP. They've scored 1 PP goal through exhibition and RR games. Gross.

Maybe this teams identity is based on defense instead of offence?  I remember seeing how offensively underwhelming the 2014 Olympic team was.   But they went 6-0, including a 2-1 quarterfinal win over Latvia, followed by a 1-0 semi-final win over USA.     Then they beat Sweden for Gold 3-0.

I too am grasping at straws, but you cannot overlook that they have only given up 2 goals (3 with the shootout goal).   That's something to build on.
