Police say that a man and woman were “causing a disturbance” during Winnipeg’s 5-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche, which escalated to the point where they required removal from the Canada Life Centre. Two security staff were assaulted while attempting to remove the man and woman, suffering minor upper-body injuries and receiving medical care on-site. The suspects and victims were not known to each other previously and police suspect alcohol played a factor in the incident. As a result of a police investigation, a 34-year-old Winnipeg man is facing two counts of assault and resisting a peace officer, while the 28-year-old woman is also facing two assault charges, as well as assaulting a peace officer and resisting a peace officer. The pair were released with conditions as mandated by the criminal code.
