Oh, boy. That's our best defender. They would have to come in with an over-the-top trade offer.

He's been fine. He's had many partners, he's on a great deal and I'm not ready to toss him out because the team as a whole has struggled defensively.

I still wonder if they would have done the Pionk deal for Trouba, knowing what they know now.

Trouba's agent should get agent of the whatever year that contract was offered award.

Pionk is fantastic and has been our best defenseman for awhile, BUT Morrissey is still great. I feel like he's been asked to do too much. I'm not sure he was ever meant to be your #1 stud D. Josh Morrissey is a great NHL defender, but he's not Chris Pronger or Shea Weber. And that's okay, too. 

Since Trouba was traded, he has struggled in NY and Morrissey has struggled here. The two complemented one another very well and combined to be a hell of pairing.

It's easy to take a dump on either but it shows how important pairing chemistry is, especially for a top pairing on the blue line. Neither has been able to find that same level since they were separated. 

What's worth nothing is both earned their respective shiny contracts based on their play together. Fortunately for the Jets, Pionk is turning into a pretty good top 4 defender and Heinola's potential is very promising. For Morrissey, IMO, his struggles have more to do with his pairing partner. If Poolman could stay healthy, I think those two would make a pretty solid top pairing but until then, #44 is not going to look the same way he did when Trouba was still a Jet.

We see this happen often in the NHL when off-ice/business factors come into play. Karlsson and Subban immediately come to mind. Another former Jet, Myers hasn't looked the same since signing with the Canucks.

Sad..bad..depressing thing is...it's supposed to be Morrissey & DeMelo.

Although the way they've played together they'd make an awesome 3rd pairing

Getting pretty sick of seeing a high sticking call every time a guy throws his head back.  They need to start reviewing those penalties... Way too many are wrong.

man the game is now tied, we're getting better but, I'd like to see them take this lead away from the Habs

I agree. He brings an offensive threat lacking in the rest of our D men for the most part.

Jets were bad first period then turned it on.  PLD rounding into form.  Healthy Wheeler.  Would like to see Heinola more but Niku was great on that second Connor goal and had a good night.  We just need some consistency.  3 game win streak is nice!
