The level of political direction — and, at times, interference — in Alberta's pandemic response is revealed in 20 audio recordings of the daily planning meetings of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) obtained by CBC News, as well as in meeting minutes and interviews with staff directly involved in pandemic planning.

Taken together, they reveal how Premier Jason Kenney, Shandro and other cabinet ministers often micromanaged the actions of already overwhelmed civil servants; sometimes overruled their expert advice; and pushed an early relaunch strategy that seemed more focused on the economy and avoiding the appearance of curtailing Albertans' freedoms than enforcing compliance to safeguard public health.

Disgraceful.

I could write a novel on this bullshit we've seen from Kenney during this pandemic. As bad as you guys think Pallister is, Kenney is like the devil. With the highest case counts in Canada and people dying at an astonishing rate, he came out for his presser and said "We're going the bare minimum, because shutting down the economy would be even worse" than what's currently happening. I was aghast. It was pure Trump-ian nonsense...

Do what’s right Manitobans..

Perhaps a few days in jail for the minister might change his mind, but I doubt it. They ought to padlock the church.

Religion and politics/courts eh? During a world-wide pandemic..

This sort of ruling is exactly what the right-wing evangelists wanted and why they supported Trump en masse. What is really, really weird is that apparently more black men supported Trump this time around than in the last election. Bizarre.

👁‍🗨That murderous, slimy bastard is at it again..going against all sensible advisories. 55 days can’t come soon enough.

“I encourage all Americans to gather, in homes and places of worship, to offer a prayer of thanks to God for our many blessings,” Trump said at the end of the annual presidential Thanksgiving proclamation released by the White House press secretary’s office on Wednesday.  https://apple.news/AdVMM9ZTBRj6gUYiCDUQ1pA

It won't. It will 100% strengthen their resolve. Anything that's seen as discrimination for worshipping their God will be used as evidence that they are not "a part of this world, but Gods kingdom" and anything that is being done to them now, has also been done to Jesus. These things are in the bible. The ONLY way to change their mind would be education. Likely won't happen.

That's the heart of the problem, right there.  Fortunately, most churches are not like this.
