February 6, 20214 yr comment_496989 My take on masks: The idea of wearing masks is somewhat flawed but it’s still there for a reason. You are not protected from COVID by two people ONLY wearing a mask. They just don’t work for that. You have to stay 6 feet apart, wash hands etc.. So why wear masks? It makes people feel safe and it makes people act differently. There’s a sliver of truth behind every anti-mask idea, but it still doesn’t give anyone the right to act as if they know anything about protecting people and about public health orders. I think the variants entering Manitoba will be the worst beast for us to deal with. That will not be fun and it will be serious, especially if the vaccination rate is going to keep up.

Puingassi First Nation is in this district and has been struggling this week. A couple other reserve on the East side of Lake Winnipeg as well. Not making light of the situation at all but it would be much easier to get them the help they needed if they had allowed the road to be built.

None with high case numbers that I'm aware of. The current situation is either (a or b): a) the virus has already made its way through a community & they have relative herd immunity b) the community has gotten better at containing the virus

They alone will not protect someone, but the more layers of defense that are followed, the more someone is protected.
