July 27, 20204 yr comment_481464 Yes N95 masks are supposed to be single use. But I suspect people are reusing them since ce they are in short supply.
July 27, 20204 yr comment_481466 Oh look... you can reuse N95 masks... who knew https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/hcwcontrols/recommendedguidanceextuse.html
July 27, 20204 yr comment_481472 I’d guess if it’s a choice between reusing an N95 or using a lower quality mask, people will consider it to be worth the risk. I got a comfortable cloth mask from CBS, no problem wearing it at all.

As an RN since 1985 she is horrified seeing the way people treat masks. Like always fidgeting with them. Or pulled halfway down their face... so their nose is exposed. Then maybe a combination of a disposable mask and face shield.

So like I said. They are designed to be single use but people are using them multiple times because they're hard to find right now.
July 27, 20204 yr comment_481491 Looks like the Miami Marlins have cancelled their home opener as a whole bunch of the players and a few coaches have tested positive for Covid 19

July 27, 20204 yr comment_481493 Anti-masking groups draw from anti-vaccination playbook to spread misinformationDownplaying dangers of COVID-19, taking research out of context are common strategies, experts say“It disturbs me when I see people acting on information that I'm quite sure is not only incorrect, but potentially misleading and potentially leading to harmful outcomes," said Dr. Matthew Oughton, an infectious disease specialist at McGill University. Although scientists are continuing to learn about the novel coronavirus, it appears that people with COVID-19 can be most infectious before they show any symptoms, Oughton said. That's different from many other viruses — including the first version of SARS. It's a key reason why it's important for people to wear masks — even if they feel perfectly healthy — when physical distancing isn't possible to prevent transmission, medical experts say. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/anti-masking-group-tied-to-anti-vaccination-covid-19-1.5661790 👁🗨 A well written article by Nicole Ireland.

The beginning of the end for baseball’s season? And other sports?
July 27, 20204 yr comment_481498 Knock on wood but the bubble for the NBA seems to be working so far and I have similar hopes for hockey. Now the MLB/NFL model, nope.

Soccer leagues in Europe did pretty well also but they had brought down new cases significantly before restarting, Florida is on fire but by having NBA players in a bubble they can control it better. In baseball it's been barely a week and you see players and coaches not wearing masks properly. Edited July 27, 20204 yr by bustamente

July 27, 20204 yr comment_481501 Yanks/Phillies game also called off, this could go pear shaped quickly for baseball, considering that the Marlins just played in Philadelphia and are still there not surprising Edited July 27, 20204 yr by bustamente

I simply presented you with an option that medical professionals are, in fact, using. This option allows you to extend the life of 4-5 masks for one month... likely more if you are not in a medical environment - i.e. a school bus
July 27, 20204 yr comment_481503 MLB situation is so much different because there's no bubble. NHL announced today that there were 0 positive cases over the last week, and now all the teams are in the bubble and will be tested daily. In theory, everything SHOULD be okay, but we'll see how things go. I have high hopes for Bubble Life.

Therefore it is possible - addressing Speedflex's concerns. You chimed in that they 'supposed' to be single use... a point which literally no one was arguing against. But sure congratulations.

Being able to reuse a N95 mask safely goes way beyond necessity. Actually reusing an n95 mask is more about consideration for other people since supplies are strained... If you have four masks, you basically rotate their use each day and store the others in a paper bag in a clean environment. Yes in a perfect world they are single use... but they remain effective for a month - so instead of wasting 28 n95 masks or more - you use four in a month. Not sure what is so deeply offensive about this basic scientifically proven concept.
