New GM: Ed Hervey. Wally says he will have carte blanche to retain existing staff or hire his own. Apparently there was only ever one other candidate.

Strange that Wally will stay on another year as coach, sensed he was fed up when the players did not respond to his methods.

So Hervey is GM.  Wally is staying on as Head Coach and Vice President of the organization.   

Head Coach reports to GM, GM reports to Vice President.

Yoiks, this taco org structure is really messed up.  And then you consider that these are two guys who are really not super good at playing with others....

I think this is a solid move by the Lions honestly. Proven winner, knows the game etc. The power structure is weird though.

It’s seems to be the same as what Hamilton had before Austin stepped down as HC. I think whether it works will be totally dependent on the relationship between Hervey and Buono.

Seems like it's just Wally wanting to coach and not worry about the day-to-day busywork of being a GM, so let Hervey be his minion, but Wally still calls all the shots...
