    Cal Foote here we come!

  • Sure but do you reach for an LHD if there isn't a suitable one available?  I'd say in the NHL it's take the best player available, always.  You don't really know what your lineup is going to look like

Rich's point is that there are always players rated low who over perform & players who are rated high who under perform. Someone will step up as a player like Mark Scheifle has done...

Home boy or another the next Auston Matthews.

There is no Matthews in this draft. There probably isn't even a scheifele actually.

Most the centers are 2nd line centers at best

How can you even make this assessment at this point?

Scheifele wasn't even a Scheifele in his draft.

There is no clear cut super star in the making.   But there are bound to be a few players who simply out play their ranking and assessment.  There always are.

All the ppl who know more than all of us seem to think there isn't much top line talent in this draft

so you are saying that if there had been a "do over" of the 1988 draft that the Nordiques might have taken Teemu Selanne instead of Daniel Dore (who?).   Interesting theory Rich.  Interesting theory indeed.
