  • Sure but do you reach for an LHD if there isn't a suitable one available?  I'd say in the NHL it's take the best player available, always.  You don't really know what your lineup is going to look like

    Rich's point is that there are always players rated low who over perform & players who are rated high who under perform. Someone will step up as a player like Mark Scheifle has done...

Scheifele wasn't even a Scheifele in his draft.  

There is no clear cut super star in the making.   But there are bound to be a few players who simply out play their ranking and assessment.  There always are.

so you are saying that if there had been a "do over" of the 1988 draft that the Nordiques might have taken Teemu Selanne instead of Daniel Dore (who?).   Interesting theory Rich.  Interesting theory indeed.
