If the Jets can't protect Myers, it's going to be expensive to for them to get Vegas to take anyone else. Maybe too expensive... Thats why its better to get Toby to waive because he's probably not super desirable for Vegas. But Vegas isnt going to win this year so getting assets is important too. If they get ONE asset from Winnipeg and it's Lowry or Perrault, thats good. Not spectacular but pretty darn good. If the Jets make moves to protect more forwards and the end result is offering Vegas a deal to take Dano, Petan and a draft pick, that's potentially better than Myers if the intent is to not let Myers be exposed anyway.

But Fleury did specifically say one of the reasons he waived was because it was the right thing to do for the Pens. I want Toby to put the Jets first too. But he has zero obligation to do so. He was given a contract. He's abiding by that contract. If he waives, its a favour he's doing for the Jets. If he over-performed we would not expect the Jets to give him a raise mid-contract. Yet how many players hold out when they do have a break out season.....Enstrom had a brutal year last year and wasn't great the year before...give back a little...no way Vegas takes him at 5 million...its not a big gamble for him??but would help the Jets who have stood by him the last couple of mediocre to brutal years.... For that to make sense, Toby would have to agree that he has been mediocre to brutal. Do you think that he feels that way?

June 17, 20178 yr comment_269200 If they ever want GM's to make news just institute a movement freeze. They all go nuts and blow their brains out for a few hours and then see what their teams are left with.

June 17, 20178 yr comment_269207 Toby doing that when he has zero reason to do so (other then some odd desire to go to Vegas) is a major character move.

Could also mean the Jets made deal with Vegas they dont draft Toby and they make odd trade like Vegas's 9th rounder for a 3rd rounder. Also just for clarification, no team can make trade for someone Vegas just took from them? Edited June 17, 20178 yr by FrostyWinnipeg

June 17, 20178 yr comment_269298 Vegas wants picks. And is willing to negotiate a deal to let every team keep the players they want.

Okay but they need 22/23 with the club and 8-10 for the A. They need that many guys and so far they have 2. Edited June 18, 20178 yr by FrostyWinnipeg

They're still going to pick 30 players but they're giving the teams a chance to hold onto that one guy they couldn't fit into 7-3-1 or 4-4-1.
