Democrats need to get the best candidate to go up against Trump, who ever it is has a tonne of ammo and will need to get dirty, as for impeachment put that on the backburner and fry the lot of them after Trump et al are thrown out of the White House.

Impeachment is a low priority for the Democrats (the party) now in terms of timing. They know they can begin the impeachment process at any point and they know that the Senate will never impeach Trump. So, build the case, make it overwhelming and hit the GOP deep into the election cycle.

There may be individual Democrats that want to push forward now but the party will try to suppress them until they think the timing is right.

Maybe not so fortunate

Very fortunate. The 7-1/2 years is the combined total from both sentences. The sentencing guidelines for the first set of charges were 19-1/2 to 24 years and he got 47 months and the guidelines for the second set of charges called for a 10 year sentence but he got 43 months. He'll probably be out in 6-1/2 years.

Fortunate on the low sentences.  Almost absurdly low actually.  I meant he was immediately hit with state charges.  If convicted, no Pardon for him.

Joe Biden would be my choice.
