The TV Thread
Me too! Super fascinating topic & that period in time really entices me, entertainment-wise. I'm only 3 episodes in, but I think at least some of what you mention comes up. Hitler is still alive and is actually a key figure keeping peace; and his soon-to-happen death has other characters thinking a Germany/Japan war for entire control of "America" is just a matter of time. I watch most of my TV on XBMC (now Kodi) installed on my laptop.

Has anyone watched The Man in the High Castle? Really interesting show set in the 60's. What if the allied forces didn't win the war? The US is now the German Reich (Eastern Seaboard) and the Japanese Pacific States, will a few thousand miles of "neutral land" in between. Pretty neat idea. The Man in the High Castle

What happens with this guy?
Wasn't there talk of Bomber interest in Medlock? Or am I imagining things?

Speaking of the Senior Bowl, any word on who the Bombers have down there? I read the Riders had EIGHT scouts checking the game out?

No way he's dealt to a Central team.

Ladd and Buff
... Right and Ladd's consistently been a 25G/60PTS guy in 4+ seasons in Wpg. Im all for trading him for a 1st +, but let's not get carried away.

Game 47 : Aliens vs Predators @ Jets
I already have a beer-at-a-Jets-game bet on the line. Me saying the Oilers will pick #1 again. Cosmic forces, man, hard to explain... I mean, they'll likely be picking top-5 somewhere...so the chances will be pretty good!

Ladd and Buff
I heard the same on the radio, and was pleasantly surprised re: the apparent 180 in Chevy's contract talks - now looking like we're a lot closer to getting Buff signed, than Ladd. Bolded, also completely agree. I feel like we're already seeing that in his game. The poor decisions leading to mistakes have been reduced greatly. Now, nearly every NHLer who plays as many mins as Buff is going to make mistakes out there, but his mental game is far superior than it was pre-Maurice. That, and he plays within his role now, and is doing it quite well. Perhaps the next "TRUE NORTH" anthem shout out should be "SIGN BUFF!".

Game 47 : Aliens vs Predators @ Jets
And really, as good as Matthews will likely be, I'd be thrilled with Jakob Chychrun or Matthew Tkachuk. So long as we pick top 5, we're getting a real good one.

Prospect Report
No kidding! Kasdorf, the goalie we sent to Buffalo in the Kane deal, is also having a stellar season.

Around the NHL
Replacement for Ladd when he's dealt at the deadline, and Buff's re-signed.

Is the theory recruiting receiving should be ''easy'' a myth?
In 2006 we were just looking for 3rd generation named players?! Robert Baker's punch to Prefontaine is one of my favourite "only in the CFL" moments.

Bombers "close to" deal with Dressler
I just texted my buddies this. Our last LDC trip was the 2012 abomination. The 2016 version may just be worth checking out again...

Ladd and Buff
Good thing no one here is suggesting that.

Buff or Trouba
When I Googled & looked for some mention after seeing Ducky's post, I couldn't find anything. Closest thing I found was an interesting note that apparently EDM offered RNH to Nash for Seth Jones, but they liked Johansen better.

Ladd and Buff
Chase De Leo is a solid player, but did we take an extra long look because we already had Petan (teammate) and Comrie (friend)? As you say; certainly not the determining factor, but it helps.

Game 46 : Avs @ Jets
Lipon is a great choice for a call-up. The guy works his tail off with the Moose and plays the hard nosed game we need in the bottom 6. I didn't think he looked overly out of place during the preseason either. Other reason you call him up: He's played 150+ games in the AHL for us. Dues have been paid. Petan & De Leo need top 6 mins and are getting it with the Moose. Let them keep progressing as pros... plenty of time for these two.

Buff or Trouba
I still think Hamonic ends up a Jet. Based on nothing really, other than the interest between both player & team, and I think we have at least a few options that would entice the Islanders. With their injuries, it'll happen in the offseason, if at all. Re: Tyler Meyers. I'm not concerned with what he did in Buffalo. Parts of 6 seasons with the Sabres, probably 4 of them they were downright terrible and they had him in a 1/2 role, when he's probably more of a 2nd pairing guy, ideally. It's over and done with. So far in Wpg though: 69 GP 8 G 25 A 33 PTS +12 and 133 shots in those games. When he's on his game (has been really good last 4-6 weeks, IMO) he's a solid 2nd pairing guy. In my perfect world, our D core is built around Trouba, Buff, Meyers and Morrissey in that order. For all the talk of Meyers OR Hamonic - I'd love to see both here on our 2nd pair. And with favourable contracts for both, maybe there's a way to offset Buff/Trouba's upcoming paydays with Meyers/Hamonic.

Buff or Trouba
Taking Buff off this team doesn't just leave an offensive void. Who steps up the physicality? That appears to already be a missing ingredient from last season to this.
