Training Camp 2018
Nope. In the past we've even seen guys take first-team reps all though camp and pre-season, and then get cut.

There's always been something a little off about John Murphy. I just couldn't trust a guy who looks like this... for sure he is up to something nefarious:

Excited for a new Fallout, disappointed they didn't give it to Obsidian to develop like Fallout: New Vegas (the best Fallout).

Roseanne is just such an objectionable human being in general. Terrible person and the show always sucked anyways.

Training Camp 2018
It was reported at the time that Wild had taken well under market value to stay in Winnipeg because he didn't want to play anywhere else

Marshall played QB at Auburn in case anyone was wondering if Chris Jones has just totally lost it.

Depends on your interpretation. Because when people talk about taking head hits out of the game... there is only one way to do that. And that is removing contact entirely. Even an 82-game suspension isn't going to prevent head hits... it's still going to happen occasionally.
-

I can understand that. But the NHL is also doing things in line with what you suggest. Head hits are illegal. They could be enforced more rigidly, but they are illegal and we do see suspensions handed out for them. The NHL doesn't manufacture helmets but their partners like Bauer and CCM do, and are constantly innovating and trying to build a better helmet. Mouthguards and visors are now common in the NHL but it's actually the NHLPA who fought to not have them be mandatory. Visors are only mandatory for new players, mouthguards are still optional. I can see why Bettman is denying... he serves the owners. He's not going to say something that is going to cost the league hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars. He is in a tough spot. In my opinion, at some point we all have to say "There's a chance you can get horribly injured, and there's a chance your brain could be negatively affected in a way that you could ruin your quality of life down the line. And it's up to you whether to accept that risk or not. But the game's not going anywhere."

I don't understand the intended goal or endgame of all these concussion alarmists. Let's say Bettman acknowledges there is or could be a link between concussions and CTE, etc. Then what?

Random News Items
It's a different crowd. It's not like it's all bikers or gangs or anything... it's more of a middle-class hangout but a lot of the guys there are very "Jersey Shore". I don't know how else to describe it. People are just ready to fight and very territorial.

Bar I is such a disaster. Everyone in there wants to fight, all the time. Men, women... doesn't matter. Actually the women tend to instigate as much or more than the men. It's rough.

Training Camp 2018
I value the reports and I also value the opinions of those who are watching camp. Just because someone sees something different than another camp report, or someone has an opinion that is more negative about a player, doesn't make that opinion any less valid and I think it's absurd to jump on that person and say they're wrong.

Absolutely incredible how horribly Trudeau and the Liberals have bungled this.

And stop showing replays over actual in-game play. They totally missed a 3rd down gamble yesterday because they were showing a replay. They don't seem to have the wherewithal to cut away from something they no longer have space for, but that's live sports and you have to be able to make those adjustments.

Before they signed Collaros there were posters on RF saying Williams was good enough to be their starter. Oops.

Wrestling
Honestly I just feel bad for Nak when the crowd doesn't react and I do feel like the language barrier is hurting him. He's a hell of a wrestler... him vs Sami Zayn at the pre-WM NXT Takeover in 2016 (or was it 2017?) remains one of the best matches I've ever seen.

Wrestling
He did, at the end of the promo. They fought a little bit and then Nak stood up and declared that it would be a "LAUSCHT MONNN SHTUNNNDDDINGG!" match to utter silence from the crowd. But even when he said Pillow Fight I had no idea what he said until AJ repeated him... and again, silence from the crowd. I don't hate the idea of cutting some promos in Japanese. Asuka was doing that during the mixed tag tourney with The Miz and she comes across so much stronger when she's allowed to speak her own language.

Around the League: 2018 Season
It was shocking to me that they wouldn't play Collaros last night. That's what you do with a long-time veteran... not your shiny new acquisition who has struggled for a year or more. Even if it's just one or two series... get him in there. He needs reps.
-
Wrestling
It's not that I have any problem with someone having an accent or being clearly a non-native speaker... it's more that I literally can't understand what they are saying. A week or two ago, Shinsuke cut a promo on the stipulation for his and AJ's match at Money in the Bank and I honestly had no clue what the stipulation was. I simply couldn't understand what he said. The same thing happened when Asuke lost to Charlotte. She said something and I had no clue what it was. Certainly with Shinsuke, the mouthguard isn't doing him any favours either. And you can tell when they hit a line in a promo and the crowd is dead silent because they're all thinking... "What did he/she say??" Of course both are hugely over right now, so it's probably a minor thing. But as more Japanese wrestlers come over... they can't all be doing the "no speak English" bit.
-
TSN Panel Changes
Yeah it's annoying. They went into last night's game with the intent to showcase Duron Carter's abilities on defence and they did that... but they tend to tell the story they want to rather than the reality... they weren't highlighting any of Carter's screw-ups but they go nuts when he makes one tackle. "WELL THERE'S THE PHYSICALITY, HE CAN OFFICIALLY DO IT ALL!!!"
-
Wrestling
The problem with Japanese wrestlers like Asuka and Shinsuke, and presumably Shirai now as well, is that they can't speak English. I can never understand what they are saying. Great wrestlers sure... but that's only half the battle. If you are incapable of delivering a promo then how can you really be a professional wrestler?

I like Perreault but he is an undersized 30 year old 40-point player who tends to miss 10-20 games per season with injury. We (all fans) tend to overrate our own players. I'm not saying it would be impossible to move him but players like him simply aren't in high demand. That's just reality.
