Canadian starters, Riders vs. Bombers... Riders - Getzlaf, Labatte, Picard, Best, Heenan, Shologan, Foley, Butler. Bombers - Muamba, Muamba, Greaves, Sorensen, Swiston, Watson, Kohlert, Etienne. If you were looking for a reason why the Bombers can't compete... well there you go.
  2. The difference is that Hufnagel had just been fired whereas Clements is still the OC in Green Bay with no sign of losing his job anytime soon.
  3. That would be awesome. I think you'd have to really shell out to get him though. According to this article, NFL offensive coordinators make an average of $800,000 per year. And I doubt he would leave Green Bay for anything other than a huge pay increase, so you're potentially looking at $1.2+ million per year. That's a hefty price tag.
  4. That would be nice but I doubt it. I've also added Matt Dunigan to the list. Time to bring back Dunigan? Recent surveys say yes.
  5. I don't consider 2 names "quite a few"... and I don't consider either one a realistic candidate... but since you insist, I've added them to the initial list.
  6. And if Higgins isn't available? Go with a new guy?
  7. There has been a lot of comments lately about the Bombers needing to go with an experienced head coach (in the event Burke gets fired this year), so I decided to go have a look at the records of all the guys who have held HC jobs in the CFL and are still involved with the game. Apologies if I missed anyone notable. The records aren't pretty, unfortunately, but that's why these guys aren't head coaches anymore. Who do you think would be the best fit? Tom Higgins' record sure stands out. How about going with a guy who maybe didn't do so well the first time around, but may learn from his mistakes? Stubler didn't get much of a shot and the fact the Argos didn't win another game after his firing might speak to how little talent he had to work with. Richie Hall had an okay experience, and he is back to leading one of the top defences in the CFL. It's clear that no matter what direction we go, the guy would be bringing some baggage with him. But it's not completely unheard of for a coach to have little success in his first shot, then turn it around when he finally gets another chance. What do you think? Or would you rather go with a high-potential rookie again, like Dave Dickenson, Jacques Chapdelaine, or Chris Jones? The Experienced Candidates Marcel Bellefeuille Record as HC: 27-35 (.435) Paul Lapolice Record as HC: 16-28 (.364) Rich Stubler Record as HC: 4-6 (.400) Richie Hall Record as HC: 16-20 (.444) George Cortez Record as HC: 6-12 (.333) Doug Berry Record as HC: 27-26-1 (.500) Tom Higgins Record as HC: 72-53-1 (.571) Danny Maciocia Record as HC: 33-38-1 (.465) Greg Marshall Record as HC: 1-7 (.125) Jeff Reinebold Record as HC: 6-26 (.188) Matt Dunigan Record as HC: 4-14 (.222)

Oh great now Stegall's wearing a Lions jersey
  9. The only fact is that Edmonton traded for Reilly's rights and Winnipeg didn't. The rest is speculation and hearsay.
  10. If you actually believe we had NO SHOT at Reilly, you're just being naive.
  11. Vega signed with the Cowboys. @nickeatman: The Cowboys have signed DE Jason Vega, who is practicing with the team Wednesday
  12. With all due respect to Mike Edem, Brett Jones has to be the best draft pick of 2013.
  13. In my opinion, if we had stuck with Michael Bishop in 2010 instead of signing Buck Pierce, this team would be in a better situation right now.
  14. The Winnipeg Football Club has won 10 Grey Cups. Enough with the semantics.
  15. Wait..................... what ? http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nfl/story/_/id/9571497/members-kiss-buy-stake-la-arena-expansion-franchise
  16. Apparently he's getting some reps at Safety. Wonder where we would slot in an extra Canadian if that were to be the case.
  17. Veteran what does that mean
  18. I think Pierce would probably look better in a more familiar offence, but you just gotta move on now that we have the chance. Hall's already in, no reason to rock the boat now.
  19. Bob Irving ‏@BobIrvingCJOB3m Looks like max hall is going to get the start vs hamilton ahead of buck pierce
  20. You're missing the point. No member of the board of directors should be meddling in day-to-day football or even business operations. Asper has shown in the past that he oversteps his boundaries as a board member and this report pretty much confirms that he has not learned his lesson. His role in the construction of the stadium is irrelevant. He is not the owner. He is not the CEO. He should not be involved in the day to day operation of the club.
  21. There's nothing typical about our QB situation. Everyone is the starter and emergency QB all at once.
  22. He has a developmental QB, named DeMarco. And I think it speaks volumes that DeMarco is ahead of the far more experienced Elliott on the depth chart. Elliott is the emergency veteran QB that smart teams like to employ. He's proven he can run an offence to some degree, but I'd be surprised if Buono has any kind of long term plans for Elliott.
  23. Not disgreeing on Elliot (he's 3rd in BC and not seeing playing time for a reason) but who do you see as good prospects that we have a shot at? We could have a realistic shot at Drew Willy and Zach Collaros to name a couple. Someone might shake loose from Calgary too, if we want to go that direction. Matt Nichols could also be an interesting option, depending on his health of course.
  24. Actually it was 3 vs. Toronto and 4 vs. Calgary. And if people can bring up the 2 PotW's, then it's just as valid to bring up the 2 games where he was absolutely terrible. Regardless, it's probably a moot point. I have a hard time seeing Elliott return. Too many other good QB prospects out there right now.
  25. 7 interceptions in 2 games. What a star. And not willing to watch film to improve his game, either. Sounds like a real winner. Except for all the losses, of course.
