It's so hard to tell right now with the trade deadline still impending. Their top goalie could be a guy like Semyon Varlamov or Philip Grubauer. Matt Murray is an interesting case. Fleury is on a NMC so if Murray is available how could Vegas not take him? Top forwards could be Derek Brassard and Mats Zuccarello. Defence... **** I can't remember who I had in their top pairing, CapFriendly scerwed up and didn't let me save and I wasn't running through it again. Lots of second pairing type guys might be available like Jason Demers. Jets, it depends on who they want to protect. If they protect 4 D, then it's Lowry or Perreault for sure, unless they get horny for Armia, which is possible.. If they protect 3 D then it's Myers or Copp.

I think that's why they drafted 3 in a row with high picks in the last draft. Realized that the lack of D was catching up to them. If only my wife came to the same realization.

We hope they are... Kostalek was a pretty good prospect before he showed up and he has struggled a bit. You just never know.

Right but they won't want to take 9 guys on big one-way deals. They will take some guys who are young and on 2-ways if they can. Or they will take a guy or two with expiring contracts. You think I don't know the rules? I'm disappointed, JCon. I have run through the entire draft simulator team-by-team.

Is he? I think lots of 6th OL are making in the 100k-120k range. I'm not sure what Neufeld's salary is.

I'd be shocked if Brian Strait was even in Chevy's top 5 targets for a left handed D last offseason. The fact of the matter is getting guys to come to Winnipeg is not easy so we're either going to overpay or get our #6 or #7 target. It's the sad reality that most guys aren't going to come to Winnipeg unless it's their last and only option.

What people have to realize is that the Vegas team only needs 6 or 7 NHL defencemen and they will be reluctant to take more than 3 or 4 on longer term, bigger money contracts. So that's 3 or 4 out of 30 teams. When you think about it like that, it's not such a slam dunk that Myers would get taken. Remember he will be coming off a season in which he barely played.

OK let's use your analogy. You're going to lose 50 dollars tomorrow. Does spending 50 dollars on a 50 dollar product today prevent you from losing 50 dollars tomorrow? No, it doesn't. Who said Lowry is getting taken? Besides, Lowry is UFA-eligible in 3 years, Perreault in 5. Perreault can play top-6, Lowry will never be a top-6 player. How is losing Lowry a waste of an asset but losing Perreault is not?

@M.O.A.B. You know that roster looks pretty good! Add in the draft and some talented American rookies and we are ready to rock.

Let them earn their spots. Shipping out Ladd made sense because he was done.... but if we hadn't drafted Laine we would be up **** creek right now in last in the conference.

Yes, Perreault is part of the core, right now and for the next 3 years. Younger does not necessarily mean better. I don't know why you don't understand this basic, simple concept. 2 years back we got swept, now we're younger and going to miss the playoffs. God I'm just so happy at how great the team is now. Oh wait, I already know, it's the coaches' fault, the veterans, everyone other than your precious, perfect kids with bright futures.

LOL now we're cutting quality veterans to make room for a 7th round draft pick. How ridiculous.

He's a part of the core group right now and for the next 3 years. Connor? Why Connor? Why not whoever we pick in the top 10 this year? Give it a few years and you'll be bitching about those guys you call the core group and saying we should move on to younger players. And so the team never improves. But hey they're young!!

No kidding. Then you have one of the Women's March organizers tweeting out that "Sharia Law is actually quite reasonable, people just don't understand the details." What an absolute farce.

Sure has looked good on the top line with Scheif and Laine. We're bumping Perreault to the third line now for a guy who got demoted to the AHL after being totally ineffective in the NHL? Maybe Connor will develop into a top-six guy but it's not guaranteed. Pump the brakes.

Losing something suggests losing something. An asset that is no longer with the team. And that is going to happen either way due to the expansion draft. Make room for youth? What?? Who?? We have room. We have close to the youngest team already. Do we really need to get even younger? Let Connor and Roslovic fight for a spot next year and if they can't earn one they will be brought up eventually as injury-replacements. No need to ship out good players to "make room." Then what are you suggesting we get? A kid that has never played in the NHL? There is no way to know if that kid is NHL-ready then. That's a gamble. I wouldn't give away Perreault, I would protect him.

Around The NHL 2016/2017
What do you mean you're not losing anything? You're losing the player you traded away. An "NHL-ready prospect".... what is that? How do you know they are NHL ready? Are you getting a prospect that can replace Perreault's 40 points next year? The year after? 2 years? When? Are you getting a Lowry/Armia type of guy back? So you trade away Perreault for a Lowry/Armia type and then lose Lowry/Armia in the draft? Logically it just makes no sense.
-
Around The NHL 2016/2017
You're losing both if you trade one away. I'd rather lose one for nothing than both and get back a prospect and/or pick who may or may not ever be NHL players.

Perreault for a prospect and picks as you suggested.

No you aren't. Just admit that you misunderstood the original post and what I was responding to. Illegal immigrants with criminal records are NOT the same thing as refugees. It's two separate issues and I believe they should be dealt with in different ways. Don't try to twist my argument to be about refugees when it's about illegal immigrants with criminal records.

Manitoba Moose
They've been shuffling the lineup trying to generate some scoring. 23 goals in the last 12 games. DeSalvo stopped scoring as soon as he got an AHL deal. Could probably throw De Leo on to that second line but I guess they are trying to spread the offence in the lineup. Sadly Lipon is probably the second best right winger on the team right now so that's right where he belongs. Either way it hasn't really hurt Connor as he's been their best scorer since coming down. Roslovic has totally turned off since the World Juniors. The prospect cupboard is suddenly looking a little bare. Comrie is suffering because the team in front of him plays like **** every night.

It was Walters' first trade. It's like keeping the first tooth you lose as a kid. Purely nostalgia-related.

Every time you move out someone, you lose someone else in the expansion draft. Say, you trade Perreault and get a pick and a prospect. Now you lose Armia/Lowry instead. Net Gain = Add pick and prospect, lose Perreault and Armia/Lowry. If you don't move Perreault, Net Gain = lose Perreault. Is one necessarily better than the other?
