I waffled back and forth over which one was more likely protected but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Both were fringe special teams players. Ottawa had plenty of those and no good receivers. Hard to say it was idiotic to take a chance on a solid Canadian free agent receiver rather than select a guy like Sherman or Volny.

So what do you suggest we do about North Korea and all their evil crap? Nothing?

They were on their way to victory until China intervened. Of course no one wanted war with China. Now, China is beginning to distance themselves from NK. And would China ever actually go to war with the Americans on behalf of NK? Maybe... but it seems a lot more unlikely now than it did in the 1950s. Now let me ask you, what would have happened had the United States not intervened?

Good. I don't know what we're waiting for. For NK to drop a bomb on someone? **** that. The only way to get peace is with a gun.

Pumped for round 2. I got Nashville, Ducks, Rangers, Pittsburgh. Too predictable?

Scott Mitchell (the Sun reporter) was talking up Lache Seastrunk like crazy last year for the Stamps. Obviously didn't work out though.

I wouldn't say it's idiotic... He really didn't have much to choose from (non free agent Canadians): Carl Volny Carl Fitzgerald Jade Etienne Kito Poblah Cory Watson Chris Greaves Tyson Pencer Jake Thomas Philippe Dubuisson-Lebon Cauchy Muamba Teague Sherman Sandro DeAngelis Mathieu Boulay Patrick Neufeld Rene Stephan Paul Swiston Now consider that we could protect 6 players and the list looks more like this: Carl Fitzgerald Jade Etienne Tyson Pencer Philippe Dubuisson-Lebon Teague Sherman Sandro DeAngelis Mathieu Boulay Patrick Neufeld Rene Stephan Paul Swiston Tough to blame Desjardins for not wanting any of those players.

Effectively the same as saying no. Instead we went cheap and unproven. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with where we ended up QB wise... but if we sign Burris in 2014 we're talking about making the playoffs for the fourth straight year in 2017.- 2011 CFL re-draft
They also lost their Hall of Fame QB. Though he wasn't good enough to play for the Bombers from 2014 right up until he won the Grey Cup in 2016 so maybe that won't make a difference.- Random News Items
Where I grew up, if a ***** wanna play with the big boys, she gonna get knocked out like the big boys. Plain and simple. Now that's equality.- Canadian Politics
The Ontario gov't is a disaster. I'm glad it's them trying out the basic minimum income because they will almost certainly botch it spectacularly and all us rational capitalists can point at their failed example, ensuring we never get this socialist trash here.- Around The League Off Season Discussion
It's not ridiculous unless you believe that EVERY player on the Bombers actually needed to be cut from the team. If we're talking about the Redblacks building around 6-8 players from the expansion draft, I'm sure you could find 6-8 players on the Bombers that were worth keeping in town. And the point is that the Bombers GM could have cut whoever he wanted, and signed whoever he wanted. CFL teams are not restricted by contracts at all... all the power rests with the team's management. There is no such thing as a CFL GM being handcuffed by a bad roster.- Around The League Off Season Discussion
Bennett was never poached... that's a bid of a mistaken view of what happened. Either we didn't want him, or he didn't want to be here. It's no different than if he had gone to free agency in February. It just happened at a different time.- Around The League Off Season Discussion
I chalk that up as a win for me, under the total annihilation column. Back to high school debate club with you, you can't roll with the big dogs online.- Around The NHL 2016/2017
That would be my guess. He wouldn't be the first to play with no ACL, but no MCL would be problematic. My guess would be a partial tear and a lot of painkillers and anti-inflammatory meds.- Around The League Off Season Discussion
Also your numbers are off, unless I'm missing something. I see Deane, Hopkins, and Evans as starters and Marshall, Albright, and Lavoie as backups/special teams. Tuesday morning and you're already in the sauce?- Around The League Off Season Discussion
OK you're right, if only the Bombers could have had those 8 players we would have won the Grey Cup. LOL. Get real. The Bombers weren't in any worse of a position than Ottawa was. Desjardins just made it work. Give credit where it's due.- Around The League Off Season Discussion
We could have signed Burris, that was all about money. We also could have drafted Pruneau as we drafted prior to #5, but we chose Goossen (which was a fine choice). And like I said, very few of those Canadians from the expansion draft were still with Ott when they won, so.... not seeing the relevance.- Around The League Off Season Discussion
OK... how many players from the expansion draft were still with the Redblacks when they won the Cup? One, two? I don't see the relevance.- Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Rush has a better shot at making the team at FB. Our Canadian linebacker corps is pretty crowded: Garrett Waggoner, Sam Hurl, Thomas Miles, Akeem Whonder, Jesse Briggs, Shayne Gauthier, Frank Renaud- Around The League Off Season Discussion
I don't see how that's correct. Contracts aren't guaranteed, if the Bombers wanted to cut everyone and start from scratch then there was nothing preventing them from doing so. - 2011 CFL re-draft
