He lived in the Krakow Ghetto. His mother was killed in Auschwitz. His father and sister survived concentration camps. He was hidden by Catholic Poles during WWII. His wife and unborn child were murdered by the Manson family. And he wouldn't have gone to jail for a long time. And FYI TUP, Polanski had been in Europe and returned to the U.S. to face the charges and make the plea deal.

When he left the other charges against him were re-instated. From what I understand they can't use the Grand Jury testimony unless she is not physically able to appear (i.e. not in the country, dead). Under US law the defendant has the right to confront their accuser and you can't cross-examine a transcript.

Some would say fate had already dealt him a pretty shitty hand considering everything he went through before the court case. And no I am not saying that should have excused him for anything. Just pointing out that his life has not been all rainbows and unicorns.

She was a minor. Whether she was 13 or 15 doesn't matter to me. The fact is what he did was wrong. It's also a fact that the victim, as an adult, has requested the prosecution stop numerous times and they have ignored her wishes. Even if he returned (either voluntarily or was extradited) what do you think the likelihood of conviction would be with an uncooperative victim who probably wouldn't testify against him (and given some of her statements might testify for him).

She was 13 and now she's 52 and just wants it to be over. If she wants this dropped then the DA's office should listen to her. I am in no way condoning what Polanski did but in the time that has passed he has basically served the sentence the prosecution wanted. He hasn't returned to the US and likely wouldn't return if this is dropped which is what they wanted (him deported). He spent more time in jail in Switzerland than he probably would have if he had been sentenced or would be sentenced to if he returned.

This whole thing is has gotten ridiculous. The victim wants the LA County DA's office to stop. She even said she was glad the Polish court didn't order Polanski extradited when the original ruling was made. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3298694/Roman-Polanski-s-victim-child-rape-charges-said-pleased-Polish-court-rejected-extradition-request-U-S.html
  10. Rotor has gone completely off his rails. I can't believe that rant he went on against Suzie calling her "him". Did enjoy Mike's interaction with him though.
  11. Beth Howland actually passed away on Dec 31, 2015 but it's just being reported now. Condolences to her husband, Charles Kimbrough (Murphy Brown) and their family.
  12. Are you referring to the CFL News twitter account? Murray McCormick of the Leader-Post is the one who reported those numbers. http://leaderpost.com/sports/football/cfl/saskatchewan-roughriders/saskatchewan-roughriders-first-overall-pick-josiah-st-john-may-miss-the-start-of-training-camp That was according to Rod Pedersen so take it with a huge grain of salt.

Vince Foster's sister has written a response to Donald Trump's insinuations that her brother was murdered. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/vince-foster-was-my-brother-donald-trump-should-be-ashamed/2016/05/26/95c684f2-233f-11e6-8690-f14ca9de2972_story.html?tid=sm_fb And then Trump has the gall to say this when asked about it: http://www.salon.com/2016/05/27/vince_fosters_sister_just_made_sure_donald_trump_never_again_mentions_his_cruel_conspiracy_about_her_brothers_suicide/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=socialflow If he thinks it should remain out of the campaign then why the hell did he bring it up in the first place. The mother has said they aren't going to press charges but I hope the police do charge anyone who posted or shared the video. It is child pornography.
  19. So what's stopping you from grabbing your crayons and making your own sign.
  20. For anyone wanting to get tickets to other games the CFL pre-sale code is CFLSGT The pre-sale started Friday and goes until June 1 when single day tickets go on sale.
  21. Since the team was actually named after a boxer how about the sound of a punch followed by someone hitting the floor and then a bell ending it for TDs.

  25. According to the US Passport website, expedited service will take 3 weeks unless you can show you need it sooner. I don't know if that applies to replacing a lost one or not.
