I believe he said Selinger would bring in changes to the team's governance if they defaulted on a loan payment and it says that the change would be using the Green Bay/Saskatchewan models. It seems to me that's exactly what a number of people were calling for the Bombers to do.

Ottawa has said they don't plan to take potential FAs but if a top NI player was unprotected I can see them claiming him (and no I'm not saying Etienne, Foster or Kohlert are top NIs). It would be a risk - sometimes the risk is rewarded, sometimes it's not.

I'm trying to get confirmation on when the SMS year starts but in the meantime do you or anyone else have any proof the SMS runs the calendar year?

CFLdb (which is a damn good website) indcates the SMS year is based on player's contracts which run from Feb 16 of one year to Feb 15 of the next.

No it doesn't. The SMS does not run on a calendar year. A new year starts in either mid-February (at the start of the FA period) or the beginning of March (I can't remember which date off the top of my head).

Well before a decision was announced that Mack would be staying as GM for 2013, there were numerous reports that Buchko wanted to keep Burke as HC and that the BoD supported this. So is it possible Mack could see Burke was in over his head but he couldn't bring in another HC because his hands were tied?

So it will basically be that once you set your protected list you can't make trades, not an all out moratorium on player movement between the trade deadline and expansion draft as some have suggested. I believe it would be no transactions period. It wouldn't be setting your roster if you were still allowed to add or release players.

I'm 90% certain the League has said no transactions between the date when rosters have to be set and the expansion draft. IIRC they said rosters would need to be set a week before the expansion draft.

You don't think they take a combo of Willy and Glenn? What has Willy done to show he'd be the better choice?
