PS Game #2
Amazing that kids who spend their whole lives posting videos of themselves are so stunned to see themselves on a screen.

PS Game #2
Well our QB depth chart is set. Elgersma QB2, Perkins short yardage and panic mode QB3

PS Game #2
15 should hit the showers now.

PS Game #2
Let's seem some RPO stuff. This guy can't pass from the pocket.

PS Game #2
Perkins footwork is so bad. Complete shoulder thrower.

PS Game #2
Gatkouth doesn't look like a guy who will get any reps on a first down for a couple years at least.

PS Game #2
A lot of these receivers are cutting themselves.

PS Game #2
Stuart cleans up a lot of plays. Going to be a great one.

PS Game #2
Funny how everyone always aches to see rookies then bellyaches when they do.

PS Game #2
I am not excited about Elgersma as a runner. He's not the short yardage guy. He's 240 pounds but he runs at 6'5, not with a good pad level. Let him throw.

PS Game #2
Jake Kelly just always in the wrong leverage. Big play against waiting to happen.

PS Game #2
Secondary is really kind of hard to even worry about positions based on the kind of coverages they play. Everyone has to be able to do everything really in zone and cover man too. Kelly has had so much opportunity to learn and grow both pre season and regular, but just still doesn't look like a guy who will be a good player on D. He's at risk of getting passed by others on special teams too.

PS Game #2
Singer didn't trust the arm there and stopped to track the ball instead of finishing his route which would have put him right on it.

PS Game #2
Yeah anyone on CFL+. I'd bet they have some kind of bot trying to detect breaks and flip to the ad.
-
PS Game #2
Elgersma has the best arm of any rookie QB we've had here in a very long time.

PS Game #2
At least the cheerleaders won't have to run as far to get to midfield next year. Will have to watch out for the goal post leaving the tunnel though.

New TV Contract
TSN wasn't very accessible until the mid-90's. It cost a lot. Even until the early 2010s had to buy a whole suite of garbage cable channels to get it unless you were a commercial buyer (basically a bar). The reason why this is different though is that it's not adding games people can watch. It's putting games people can already watch on a really shitty streaming service (switched my own Sunday Ticket/Red Zone pack off DAZN to Shaw/Rogers because it was so glitchy). And making people who are maybe marginally interested in a Ottawa-Hamilton game in July have to try to find it instead of being able to have it running as the background in a lot of places and on a channel a lot of Canadians are already sitting on. It goes against everything you want in terms of marketing a sport that needs to grow, for the big cheque.

New TV Contract
The sad thing is I think the league feels like rule changes will have a positive impact on their fanbase within Canada too.

New TV Contract
The CFL could easily do this. This is exactly what the NFL does and holds it out as a separate product. In general the inevitability here is the CFL being pressured to be a spring league as a TV property. And that kind of kills the existing business. It’s the typical CFL story of chasing the sugar high unsustainably. Skalbania, McNall, US expansion….

PS Game #2
Jenkins looked a lot more explosive than Dixon IMO. Dixon kind of plays like a heavier WJ. He's not firing off he's reading the play. Jenkins is in the backfield 1/4 pass plays before the OT even gets his hands up.

2026 CFL Around The League (Not Bombers Specific)
Maier wasn't terrible his last year in Calgary, but 2023 he was. Both him and Brown have been stuck starting for terrible teams. Brown has performed significantly better though, even with very poor OL and no ability for the O to run. And that's with the OC we're saddling up with now ☠️

New TV Contract
But who got a nice chunk of change out of selling a bunch of games to DAZN? Bell. Where did Johnston work? Where will he go back to when he's a ******* nobody who put this league on its deathbed again within 5 years? Honestly can't believe the owners/governors are on board with all of this. I get the money piece in the immediate but there's big long-term implications too. And with the rule changes etc.

PS Game #2
The other piece to this is taking reps with the same guys. Yeah it would be nice to give him a platter of CFL all-stars as a surrounding cast, but at least if it's the same guys playing the whole game and working together for the 2-3 practices leading up to the game you get a real look at a QB. The game in Sask was brutal with guys playing a couple series, going out for half the game, coming back in etc.

New TV Contract
Yeah this is a little like sticking a roman candle up your butt and calling yourself an astronaut by the CFL. The NFL is literally the highest premium product in the whole world. The CFL can't really follow their lead. They need eyeballs, not barriers. And everything they are doing endangers the solid core fans they already have in each market. Underrated aspect in Stew Johnston's tenure is him doing the bidding of his former employer.
