  1. I initially felt the same about the fake punt, but it wasn't anything gimmicky or gadgety at all, just a total blown assignment by the Argo back on that side of the field to not cover the gunner. All the Bombers showed is that they are willing to take advantage of that.
  2. Don't blame Burke. He didn't really want the job and they don't have enough talent.
  3. Looked like Jim Barker thought he was the head coach last night. Kind of crazy to see the GM on the field arguing with the officials.
  4. That was definitely a game plan put together for Burke's defence, and with not a lot of pressure on the QB from the front four, that defence collapses and is prone to getting burned by the deep ball, or any ball really with no pressure. Even the turnover was a good play for the Bombers. Essentially a 45 yard punt, and also a 50-50 INT/Denmark catch for touchdown ball. Toronto's offence was off-balance all night, Ray had no idea where to go with the ball from what the D showed pre-snap, leading to a lot of double-clutching and settling for 2 yard passes with a defender coming downhill at the guy catching the ball, when our defence got to the ball and didn't let Owens, Durie or Chiles get any YAC, they had nothing. One might wonder why the Argos didn't try to establish any kind of run game, even though they got behind early, there was lots of time and they completely abandoned the run. The Argos had a terrible night, penalties like crazy, a couple of their DB's looked terrible in man coverage, #4 especially. Even on a lot of the deep bals the Bombers completed, he could have easily and probably should have been flagged for PI. It's nice having a quarterback with an arm and a brain, who isn't getting scraped off the turf whenever he gets hit.
  5. What Bryant did would be more like walking into a co-worker's office/cubicle and purposefully destroying something they are working on or smashing their computer than your analogy/experience. When how you perform your job directly affects a large number of other people, it takes a special lack of integrity or awareness to truly not give a ****, regardless of the circumstances or reasoning.
  6. There aren't many winning football teams that exist in an environment that isn't ridiculously, almost sickeningly positive, and if a winning team is in a negative environment they are almost surely a very talented team that is on the brink or underachieving. Who is saying that saying nice things in the media will make the team better? Nobody. It's a matter of respect and professionalism. Players shouldn't be in the media if they have issues with coaching or another player, or anything to do with the organization, they should take the issue to their coach or teammate. Same goes for a coach. I don't understand how this is even an issue. We don't know what he says to his players, so why make assumptions and attack him before a meaningful game is even played? If you're expecting honesty from a professional coach in the media you are brain dead.
  7. Ya, hearing about how Mike O'Shea is going to have to restrain himself from pulling Drew Willy if he struggles in a first quarter was enlightening. Lawless is out of his depth talking about actual sport, hockey, football, whatever. He's good at digging and working sources for information and creating soap opera-esque storylines. Sad that we couldn't get any thoughts from a guy like Lapolice on Drew Willy or anything Bomber related really.
  8. Jesse Briggs @jessebriggs34 Frustrating preseason watching from the sidelines, but I finally get to step on the field in that #Bomber uniform tomorrow!! #cantwait Briggs won't be the LB on reserve.
  9. Why are you equating what O'Shea says for public consumption to what he says to his players? I don't follow your premise, because it doesn't make any sense. When have you ever heard Hufnagel, Buono or even Austin publicly trash a player in the media? Austin clearly hated having Burris as his QB and it was all sunshine and rainbows publicly. If you've listened to the Coaches Show to this point, O'Shea has been very blunt about why certain guys were cut, and assessing some of the players on his roster, certainly a lot more than I expected from him and more than most head coaches around the league would have divulged.
  10. I'm fine with the punishment, 240 hours of community service plus 2 years probation. On that individual it might be a little lenient, but the last thing we need is an easily influenced kid tossed in jail for a few months when he's not really a threat to society. Rest assured he'd make some new "friends" in the joint, probably start a new "career" and be an actual threat when he's put back on the streets.
  11. Why TSN wastes airtime with Lawless regurgitating his talking points from his columns when they have actual football analysts is beyond me. Let Lawless report news and maybe do some insider stuff with Naylor.
  12. Only 150k for Ottawa's D on a bye week...couldn't resist that value.
  13. I don't know about that. It's a long game, and I think that's something that O'Shea preaches. Both pre-season games they were pretty resilient, I expect that to continue in the regular season...and we have a pretty good opposite case to illustrate what less resilient teams do...pre-season 2013.

I'm chuckling over here. No. He proved that he doesn't have the tools to be a head coach in this league, not even close, but for him to crack that top echelon of Bart Andrus awfulness? No, he just wasn't that interesting. His time as head coach will be a footnote in Bomber history. The truly awful ones get their own chapters. A head coach with zero positive attributes. Yep, Burke is one of the worst ever, the only one in his league in Bomber history is Reinebold, and even though his teams sucked his players would have tried to run through a brick wall if that was the play call, so he had some positive attributes. The only head coach I can remember in my time who was worse than Burke is John Huard. I'd but Burke at par with Andrus, Paopao and the American Greg Marshall as head coaches as the next tier of garbage head coaches after Huard. We'll see if Chris Jones joins that crew.

There is no evidence to support that statement. Mike Shanahan. Won a bunch of games & two Super Bowls with great players. Then he gets saddled with a terrible Redskins team with an injured starting qb and he looks like a bum. He won a bunch of games with pretty average teams in Denver too, unless you really like Brian Griese, Steve Beuerlein and Jake Plummer. He was also at the forefront of reinventing the run game in modern football with zone blocking, which you see everywhere now, including on our team.
  16. Maybe he takes Ben Archibald's 48 slot. Looking at the 2013 list, the number of guys who have been outright released at least once or dropped out of the league entirely on the list is crazy. Isaac, Hefney, Simpson, Banks (not released but close), Richardson, Keron Williams, Drew Tate lost his starting job.
  17. Burke probably has a good sense of what Marcel Bellefeuille is going to try to do. And everyone in the stadium knows what Burke is going to do...hope his players can win 1 on 1 battles and do nothing to schematically to disrupt the QB's reads. Hopefully our OL can be decent, then it's just a matter of scoring when the opportunity presents itself, I think we'll give the Argos a decent game.
  18. Chris Randle, Demond Washington, Nick Moore, Bryant Turner are the 4 who have a shot at the top 50 list IMO. They tend to hugely overrate veterans, so Banks or Suber could slip in too. I bet if the players voted Denmark would make the top 50.
  19. FTFY I don't think we'll give up any long TD runs but plenty of mid range ones. Ray is going to have a ridiculous completion percentage too but it will all be nickel and dime stuff. This defence is built to stop the big play while forcing you to march it down the field, nothing Ray hasn't done before. I think you might be a little surprised, pleasantly or unpleasantly depending on the result, at the amount of pressure. I'm expecting a lot of zone, but a lot of blitzing in front of it.
  20. I think we know who wrote this press release, or bought the person who did lunch. What a title.

    Agreed.
  22. It looks like one of those cars chop shops sell where they literally weld two cars together. One grandstand in 1950's-1960's style, and one in 2010's style.

It's too bad his loser mentality had to permeate our team and waste a season and a half of our time and money. Lapolice is probably an average head coach, we'll see what O'Shea becomes as a head coach, but at least they have the mentality of "what can we do to make this team better," not "ho hum, we suck" like Burke. Just a totally depressing, dark age in Blue Bomber history.
  24. Washington. But I believe Woods will dress. Washington is an unreliable yet occasionally spectacular punt returner, I really don't see him being the guy for that job in O'Shea's eyes unless something changes in-game, like Woods being injured. Not sure if you know this but...Washington has been fielding punts in practice. So,unless O'Shea suddenly doesn't like what he has seen from Washington in practice, I think it's safe to assume he will be used on punt returns during games. How many other guys have been returning punts? IMO, Washington is the next guy up if Woods goes down in game. Not surprising that he'd be fielding punts in practice, but I don't think that will affect our DI's or Woods status on the team.
  25. They also have two of the best backup QB's and their head coach made Adrian McPherson look like Doug Flutie in the past, I guess you could say the same about Collaros. The Argos are way ahead of everyone in the East at this point IMO.
