  1. What do you base this on...when you say coaches should clearly make the opposite decision? Think about it for a second. You haven't even seen Eli play centre in the CFL. Yeah this an appeal to authority but Eli is nothing special even in the roles he's playing. Watch him try to pass protect the edge when they run the 6 OL max protect sets. He can't move laterally at all. He comes in at guard and he's getting beat with strength and inside rips/swims because his feet don't move with him at all. Yeah he can lock onto a run block or support the play side double teams on wide zone looks. I just don't understand what the thinking is that somehow he's going to be a difference maker. Kolankowski is the 3rd guy they've played at C over him and even had Dobson getting reps in pre-season over him. They clearly don't see him as a viable option as anything but a fill-in to get out of a game at centre, likely any spot. I'm kind of surprised Wallace didn't get a shot in Toronto at G because he looks a lot more physically capable in an athletic sense in those heavy set reps he gets. His hips were a little concerning in pre-season getting to his assignments in pass pro by turning rather than firing his feet. But he's had 3 months of reps now.
  2. The directional stuff is necessary though. Every single punter on this side of the border is trying to hit the ball to the numbers and tighter to sideline. If it's not there it's a major fail whether it's a 70 yard kick or a 30 yard one. We basically shouldn't be punting inside the 50 and to me if it's on -50 and 3rd or 5 or less I'm going for it no matter who my punter is. Last 5 games net is 33, 47, 42, 30, 36. Season is 36. Net average for 2024 so far (with adjustment for rouges) Calgary 32 BC 35 Winnipeg 36 Sask 36 Montreal 37 Ottawa 37 Hamilton 37 Toronto 40 Edmonton 40
  3. There's been 3 jobs open up long-term or permanently on the OL in the past season.
  4. The whole league had two years to sign the guy and he came back here on a 3 year deal. Even Jacob Ruby got signed immediately when he was eligible again. I don't see it as a talent evaluation problem in this case. The guy who is biased for Canadian players all of a sudden hates a Canadian player? Gotta get the narratives straight. I mean that's not true. I was just at Vikings camp and half the OL they have in there are in their 30s having bounced around PR's and barely played NFL games.
  5. cfl.ca has all the games in the States if you don't have CBS SN. I just got back from the States. It's basically like how they broadcast the pre-season games that weren't on TSN. Not hard to connect to a smart TV.
  6. Manu has a football lifetime of NFL PR opportunities ahead of him if he doesn't crack the roster. Would be very surprising to see him in the CFL. Remember...there's about 600 PR spots in NFL. 1700 active spots plus injured lists. Lots of room. 3000 guys plus the next thousand waiting by the phone week by week. And Speller was his guy. Couture was his guy. Kendall Randolph is his guy. Liam Dobson is his guy. Geoff Gray is his guy. Eli gets in and isn't even a speed bump in pass pro, can't get his feet going.
  7. Made it sound like he deked 3 guys but they were all just waiting to avoid the flag when he hesitated like he was going to slide feet first. Easy unsportsmanlike conduct call.
  8. Tre Ford pulls off the fake slide right at the sticks. Gotta call that ****.
  9. I like when the Command Center just randomly makes a call. Why don't they just do away with challenges then?
  10. Except he's pretty shitty in the pocket. Brown can sit back there and fire strikes. Reminds me in terms of style of someone like Lulay.
  11. He's from East Kildonan.
  12. Watch it in 1.0x then....still obvious.
  13. Bottom of a guys cleat touching a guys helmet on the turf = down by contact is the dumbest rule in sports. Should have to at least be trying to make an effort to tackle a guy to get him down by contact.
  14. This is the same officiating crew as our game last week BTW....with Proulx instead of McInnes as head ref. That line judge not being able to make that fumble call in real time should be fireable. The Command Center backing it up is even worse.
  15. Ambrosie is a Bomber fan? Based on what? They need to get calls right. Honestly I'd engage some alumni, players along with refs. Have a 3 person panel. Don't think it would cost too much. They don't even need to leave their houses, just have access to the cameras. They all punch in their ruling and majority rules for the ultimate call. Most of the calls they are dealing with are not intricate rules based decisions. Just common sense football stuff. Is this a penalty or not...is this a fumble or not (with immediate recovery).
  16. Yeah if anything they should be working Augustine in. Relying a lot on those swing passes and releases. He's really developed that part of his game almost like Harris. He's got the 3rd most receptions on the team and he basically wasn't fully available until Game 4.
  17. That would be great for us. Masoli is in terrible shape. Dolegala has a better shot of winning a CFL game in 2024.
  18. Why would you want the guy getting torched week after week on bum knees over the guy who is probably a West all-star and potential CFL if not for a couple guys in Ottawa and Montreal? If Kramdi is so bad why aren't teams taking advantage? It's not like we have a pass rush that would slow them down if he's such a liability. It's true but us and BC are the only teams that have played this week. Because they needed to score touchdowns to try to win the game? They got exactly what they wanted. Cadwallader just made a hell of a play. Would you take Lawler on a jump ball vs a 5'11 225 special teamer? If we could get that instead of a 48 yard FG shot I'd take it 10 times out of 10.
  19. That's a tiny receiving corps with basically no reliable targets. Clercius is headed that way, but sometimes a QB just needs a relatively easy throw. Going to have to work screen game with this crew, the intermediate stuff is largely out the window IMO. These guys need to get open, no one who will win a contested ball.
  20. Mitchell hasn't been active since Case was put on.
  21. That was absolutely ******* incredible. Because the ref called "Timeout Toronto," reset both clocks and then the clock ran anyways. So did they actually get the timeout? Or just ******* around with the flow of our offense. That ref crew needs to take a seat.
  22. That play was a great example of his main issue. He’s waiting on the ball, catching it with weak, low hands and absorbing it with his pads. Recipe for a drop and makes YAC nearly impossible. They need to teach him how to catch a football.
  23. Fell in love with too many limited role players.
  24. Here’s a bridge they need to cross…what’s the short yardage plan if Streveler isn’t physically capable.
