Winnipeg Versus the Ponies Aka Battle of the Reserves GDT
I wonder if that that weird quads play was RPO or not -- Prukop had miles and miles of space there if he'd kept the ball.

I don't think we need to see ZC out there at all: dude doesn't seem to need the game reps to stay sharp and I strongly believe we would have won the cup last year if he wasn't banged up ... he missed some throws in that game that he'd been making all year. Those pinpoint ZC passes weren't happening. (Note: I know nothing about coaching football)

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
I remember the times -- mostly Lapo times -- when fourth quarter leads were meaningless and the Bombers O simply couldn't close out games, we'd usually go 2-and-out when the chips were down. hell, I think those Lapo teams were the inspiration for the "no lead is safe" catchphrase. I don't have the numbers to prove it, but I think our clutch running game has won several games for us this year. If I had infinite time I'd look at how often Brady O. carries the ball in the fourth quarter of a one-score game -- my impression is that the higher the stakes, the more he gets the ball.

Hmmm, Yoshi over Bryant for Blue MOOL.

yup, just like the 2011 and 2014 Bombers. Come blazing out of the gates in the summertime, lack of depth gets exposed, stagger to the finish, then regress badly the next year. (yeah, I know we were Grey Cup finalists in 2011. That was a big fluke -- my time machine says that we would have lost the east final had the TiCats not beat Montreal in the ESF)

One Last Tune-Up Before Playoffs - West Division Champs @ Donkeys: The Week Of Thread
I'm not sure that's the case -- based on what I saw during the regular season, he wasn't super good in his short yardage role. Pigrome's performance with the redblacks definitely validated the bombers' decision to cut him when Prukop came available.

I think you could say that of any of our guys. There's not a single one of them that can be safely ignored, they're all playmakers and a secondary has to account for every man of our starting five. I think Lawler is gonna benefit from Schoen and Demski and Woli and Bailey just like those guys benefit from him.

yeah, that's a nice 1250ish yard / 10 TD pace. I think those are pretty solid numbers for a guy who plays on a team with two other 1000 yard receivers and a feature back who soaks up 15 carries a game. I'm so glad we've got KL for the playoffs.

that throw from Zach looked hard as hell -- dancing along the LOS, hit BO in stride.

FNF Stamps at Lions GDT
Like, I mean, getting two misconduct fouls on a single play. I've definitely seen players get 25-yard rough play disqualification penalties. Best one I remember is the BC guy who punched Obby Khan in the junk and helped our comeback along in Casey Printers' final game.

anyone else remember a player fouling out of a CFL game on a single play? Can't remember it myself, but my memory is ****.

109 yard TD drive -- 14 point swing. Bigger than a missed FG return, which is usually the most devastating play you'll see in a CFL game.

Campbell: I'm gonna bench 47. Command center: naw, we got this coach

FNF Stamps at Lions GDT
Glad to see Mike Jones is still in the league. He's in that Terrance Frederick / ADS class of DBs that I like more than the Bomber coaches do. damn, Dom Davis.

McCheese has gotten lucky -- Peters should've taken that earlier throw to the house. Can't throw to a stationary receiver on the wide side, that's begging trouble.

Elks @ Bombers: Week Of Thread
as a bomber fan, when I think about this week's game I feel like Rocky Butler has pitched a hammock on my grave. This isn't just a trap game, this is a 12' deep tiger pit complete with dung-encrusted punji sticks kind of game. buuuutt as a CFL / sports fan I like the drama of the nothing-to-lose snake-in-the-grass Elks vs the lots-to-lose Blue Bombers. This is exactly why I watch the game.

Nothing-at-stake Saturday: Birds v Antlers, Rouge et Noir vs Boats
I don't know anything about developing QBs, but I think that Crum has done better than expected for a QB3 starter on a terrible team. Has he got a CFL future? Would he be a good QB2 anywhere? Main knock that I see on him is the huge sack numbers .. how much of that is a leaky OL and how much is on Crum? yup. inter-divisional play is the only way to judge which division is better. mysteriously, all the Redblacks' wins came at the expense of the west. They were 0-9 in their own division but were .500 against the West. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dinwiddie is tempting fate with Kelly still playing. Ottawa has Pigrome out and he ain't distinguishing himself.

Knee injury. Typical Redblack football. Score a go-ahead TD and then kick out of bounds, give the Argos super easy field position, and blow the lead.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player get ejected for spitting before.

There's a long Free Press article about Lori Pierce's cancer fight here: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2021/07/16/bucks-team-survives-brutal-life-blitz?utm_source=view-in-browser&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign= She's tough as hell.

hell yeah -- this is one of my top ten bomber plays of all time. gotta mix in the Milt Miracle, some plays from the 2019 and 2021 playoffs, the 1984 Mikawos Grey Cup killshot TD, the Michael Gray interception in 88, Deon Beasley ending Casey Printers' career in 2010, and now the Parker Pursuit from last week. might be a fun offseason project to pull all those together into a youtube.

Yeah, but he wasn't really a great cover safety.
