  1. As it sits, I'd say we've got the fourth best QB in the West. Reilly, BLM and Harris are all better. Luckily, it takes more than just a good QB to win championships.
  2. It's a specific question without a specific answer because neither of us know what the two offers were. We don't know if BC offered more or less than we did although I assume it was more. We don't know how much was up front. We don't even know if money was the deciding factor. I'm on record as saying I'd have 'overpaid' a young NI all star to keep him and I stick by that assessment. As for Demski... I'm happy we don't have to replace another NI starter but I hope we didn't give him much of a salary bump as he was already being over paid for his contributions IMO.
  3. That would be a good signing, but I think it would cost more than $150K.

They are looking like today's Biggest Losers.
  5. We need a couple of new NI starters, not Willie Jefferson.
  6. Loffler... Not over paying him, but I'd rather have JSK @ $145K than Jefferson @ $200+K and use the extra to 'overpay' Chungh.
  7. and let them go when they want to get paid.
  8. Jeff Hamilton Hearing LB Jovan Santos-Knox found a contract for around $145,000, plus bonuses. Not sure the team yet, but maybe Sask? Good for him, he's a heck of a player and deserves that deal. High character guy that any locker room would want. Doesn't sound like a huge number to me.
  9. Looks like we're losing a ton of NI talent. No... last years backups, who weren't good enough to get a starting job, aren't going to seamlessly step in and play as well. 3 of the NI's we're likely losing were all stars of some sort last year. I hate losing young difference makers like JSK. They are the kind of players you build your team on going forward.
  10. 1. Arbitrary - Not the 'whim' definition, the 'autocratic in the use of authority' definition. In other words, we have a number that we've decided on. 2. If some other team makes a higher offer than we do, we could lose Chungh for a few (Yes, I changed from a couple to a few) thousand dollars. Nothing to say that we will match or beat any other offers or even that Chungh will give us the chance.
  11. No, I'm not suggesting we pay him whatever he wants. I'm suggesting that we pay him whatever he's worth on the open market plus a bit to make sure we keep him. Losing him for a couple of thousand dollars to stay within the number we arbitrarily choose for him doesn't help us at all. It helps another team get better and stronger in their NI starters. The idea that we can't afford him is dumb. We can afford him if we choose to.
  12. Jan 15th was the day we paid Nichols half of this years salary in the form of a bonus. It was also the day that it became fiscally impossible to replace Nichols either by bringing in another starting QB or trading him.
  13. Raw rookie and a guy who has very little playing time backed up by a draft pick or two replacing young all star quality O linemen? Sounds like a serious downgrade to our O line to me.
  14. Folks around here are using the wrong word. It's not that we can't afford Chungh. It's that we won't pay him what he wants.
  15. And maybe you'll stop making things up and pretending that they are 'reasons' things are happening.
  16. I'll get right on that.🙄
  17. If it's so easy and the Union will just take whatever they are given, then why wasn't it done and dusted in January? It would be better for all involved to go into free agency knowing what the SMS number will be.
  18. I don't see it myself. We have 70K extra from the Durant situation last year. We freed up a bunch of money on Randle, Wild, Leggett, and Goosen. Rumour is that we'll lose Chungh and Loffler. That's a ton of SMS room.
  19. Just don't use Harris.
  20. https://www.cfl.ca/2019/01/30/canadian-content-ranking-national-free-agents-2/ 2. SUKH CHUNGH OL | WPG With Matthias Goossen retired, Sukh Chungh becomes one of the top prizes in free agency. The former second overall pick turns just 27 in March and is in the prime of his career, helping anchor one of the CFL’s top O-lines in 2018. Chungh is regarded as one of the most aggressive and physical guards in the league. 3. TAYLOR LOFFLER DB | WPG With two of the top three nationals coming out of Winnipeg, Kyle Walters still has some work to do in the coming weeks. Almost all of the starting safeties in the CFL are pending free agency, but 26-year-old Taylor Loffler is at the top of his position. He has 185 tackles, eight interceptions and seven forced fumbles in three seasons.
  21. I guess we will find out soon.
  22. FWIW: https://3downnation.com/2019/01/29/what-matthias-goossens-retirement-means-for-the-bombers/ This could be a massive blow to the Bombers. 2 starting NI OL.
  23. It's Walters fault when MOS doesn't have the best players. It's PLAPS fault when the O doesn't work. It's Halls fault when the D doesn't work. It's the players fault when they aren't prepared. It's the kickers fault for talking MOS into going for the stupid long FG's. MOS is Teflon.
  24. Not surprised it's Dickenson. Thought that's where they'd end up after no team would allow them to interview their coaches. That leaves Trestman, who is smart enough not to wade into the mess that is the Riders right now, and coaches currently on the Riders staff. I'm a bit surprised about the 3 year contract. I was expecting 2.
  25. and MOS was in charge of PLAP.
