  1. First, I'm not sure what being hit by someone who is or isn't half dazed has to do with the severity of his injuries, but the fact is that the ref hasn't worked a game since the hit. So Wideman effectively ended this guys career. Second, if Wideman really was half dazed, then concussion protocol should have kicked in and he should have gone to the quiet room. But he didn't. So he was either half dazed and the team and the player ignored concussion protocols or they didn't and he was fine. You can't have it both ways. Either way something there isn't right. Willing to also bet this lawsuit is a result of Wideman and the NHLPA knocking his suspension down to peanuts. The joke is Wideman effectively ended a guys career then got the PA to cut his suspension down in half. I don't know if that is worth $10M, but they didn't get justice through league discipline, so they've gone to the next route available.
  2. If aliens were able to figure out how to do it, why wouldn't we be able to?
  3. Fleury is 32 (will be 33 in November).
  4. There are two reasons on why we may never see other intelligent life: 1. The huge distances between solar systems and galaxies. We may never discover a technology similar to “warp” or “light speed” that allows us to travel the distances required to go to another planet, or to create a telescope powerful enough to see that level of detail. At this point in our development, we haven’t even sent an unmanned probe to go investigate another solar system. Put that in perspective, Voyager 2, which was launched in 1977 is the furthest man made object away from the Earth (at least according to Wikipedia). It is .002 light years away from the sun. The next closest star is 4.2 light years away. 2. Humans have only been around for a very very very short time on this planet. It is entirely possible that we (and species like us) go extinct in such a short time relative to the universe that the chances of coming across a planet while a species like us is alive is very low.
  5. On a hockey jersey, that Montreal one reminds me of the old Colorado Rockies.
  6. Even if you lose Fleury in expansion, it means you are keeping everyone else on the roster. Would you give up a 2nd right now if it means we don't lose anyone else in the expansion draft?
  7. People had to be bumped to allow for a flight crew to get to the destination city. If the flight crew wasn't on that plane then rather then inconvenience the few people, a whole plane of people would be delayed. It seems normal protocol in these situations is to offer money in increasing intervals until someone agrees to take it and wait for the next flight.
  8. Had a tour from the project manager before IGF opened. He basically said that he was up most nights re-planning / designing to fit the budget. The project basically had no contingency built in so if one piece went over they had to save somewhere else. He was an interesting guy who had built large scale projects across the world, including Vegas casinos.
  9. I believe CJOB holds the rights until the end of this year. (7 year extension announced in nov 2011). This could be the last season on CJOB. And unfortunately probably Bob as well. He is due for a well earned retirement.

  13. Not necessarily sorry to see him go. "Awkward" is the best word I could use to describe him every time I saw him in public. But the commissioner of the CFL does not appear to be a long term gig. Especially when you compare to other leagues like NFL, MLB, and NHL where the commissioners tend to be measured in decades. https://stats.cfldb.ca/league/cfl/commissioners/ Other then a few periods of stability with Cohon (7 years), and Gaudaur (16 years - 1968 - 1984), it is a pretty sad state.
  14. Its unfortunately advertising the NHL is injecting into the link. I'm sure they are sponsors of the contest. You need to click the "skip these deals & continue to nhl.com " link in the top right.
  15. For anyone who doesn't frequent the NHL section of the site but is interested in joining the MBB NHL Playoff Bracket tournament, click below.
  16. Since a couple of people asked, I've setup a bracket league for the site. http://bracketchallenge.nhl.com/leagues/mbb-playoff-challenge Password is: MBB If you are interested in joining, looks like you need to fill in your bracket before puck drop tomorrow. I'll toss in a site sponsored Jets Store Gift Certificate (or team of your choice for the out of towners) for the winner.
  17. That is my issue with your proposal. Getting both sides to agree on that really isn't that simple.
  18. What's market value for Enstrom?
  19. What kind of deal would you offer him to waive his NMC? Jets would be looking for a pay cut from his current salary to re-sign him. So his options would be waive his NMC, sign for less and extend his contract so that if he gets picked up by Vegas, he is stuck there longer. Or play out his final season and see what he can actually get on the open market. I don't think anyone is going to break the bank to sign him in free agency, but given those options, why wouldn't you opt to go and find out ... unless his heart is dead set on ending his career in Winnipeg.
  20. Yeah, if you look at some of the comparables who signed last season in his age group, Lindholm 6 years @ $31.5M and Seth Jones 6 years @ $32M, they are averaging just over $5M per season. Now, Trouba will be 2 more years closer to free agency + if you are signing for 8 years instead of 6, that is a total of 4 more years of free agency you need to buy. $7M + seems like it would be closer to what it would take.
  21. It isn't that he doesn't like Winnipeg. It is that most players don't put non playoff teams on their trade list unless there is some other connection or appeal to that city.
