I have no idea of this played into his decision but I would think a lot of football players have been forced into some soul searching if they've seen the Concussion movie. Make 200k per in the CFL for the next 10 years and put the rest of your life at risk or prolong your quality of life while you still can.

Grey Cup Profit: $7.1M
Hopefully at least an extra 500k so they can make their $4.5M mortgage payment without dipping into the rainy day fund.

End of Season Report Card
He wasn't traded is because he isn't a UFA this summer. In fact he is under contract for 2 more years, and most playoff calibre teams don't want to commit to the $2.6M cap hit for the next 2 years. Typically only pending UFAs get traded at the deadline.

The TV Thread
When I first heard this idea, I thought it would have been a good story as well, but then thinking about the logistics, I don't think it would work. Imagine you have people watching Negan over multiple seasons, viewers get to know and start to identify with the characters. They see the history, the backgrounds, and the events that build up to him becoming what he is. Similar to what Rick now is. He is no longer clearly the "good guy" He just does what he needs to survive. The same is likely true for Negan. Now they meet Rick's group. Who is going to win? You probably have an epic build up and an epic couple of episodes, but then what? You have a similar problem to the face vs face problem you talked about in the Wrestling thread. There is no longer a clear cut bad guy for the audience to "cheer" against. Pockets of fans are going to be "cheering" for different characters in both the groups. Then after the fight and one faction "wins", can you still really continue with two different series? As to FTWD itself, I stopped watching after 2 - 3 episodes. It just wan't compelling enough to keep watching for me.

Yep, the salary will be around 900k annually. This isn't negotiable. Bonuses can be 10% (bonuses are just part of the salary paid up front). The rest is bonuses.- Jets Prospects
Glad to see him sign. No burning of the 1st year of his ELC. Also delaying on when he would have to be protected for any possible expansion draft. Will be exciting to watch him play next year.- Around the NHL

Draft odds of each team- Game 81 : Jets @ Sharks - West Coast Story
Maurice implied that you shouldn't read too much into that win. San Jose has a playoff spot wrapped up and we're basically just going through the motions. It was a sloppy game by both teams. We certainly didn't beat San Jose at their best.- 2016 Draft Standings
I believe first tie breaker is number of wins then non OT wins.- Rogers in turmoil. YAY!
I cannot stand the Sportsnet panel. Their on air talent are just unlikeable for the most part. Not a fan of their play by play teams either. It will be interesting to see what happens when this contract is up. Whether TSN gets hockey back or it stays with Sportsnet, it will be at a reduced cost. Big cap implications when TV money decreases. Hopefully the Canadian dollar has rebounded by then.- New Tallest Building In Winnipeg Announced
400 apartments ... where are these people going to park? You would think they'd need to expand the existing underground parkade, acquire some of the Impark lots next to Winnipeg Square and build a parkade up, or designate a few of the floors of the new building as parking.- Russian hockey hit by mass doping scandal
Actually, that article goes on to say that this particular drug is not yet banned in the NHL, and they wouldn't add a drug to the banned list mid-season. So for now, they would be okay.- Russian hockey hit by mass doping scandal

Always take BPA. Most of these players are years away from playing in the NHL, especially defensemen. Who knows what your needs will be down the road.- Around the NHL
Interesting though with all the discussion on tanking and losing is winning and winning is losing for the Jets lately.- Wpg Sun - You be the boss survey
Don't think so. In fact, even if a player ends the year in the AHL, I believe he is considered back in the NHL to start the next season and must clear waivers if he is sent down again.- Game 80 : Jets @ Duck, You Sucker!
Carlyle retired after Teemu's rookie season, and I believe Teemu held off one more year after that before switching to #8. The thing is, that rookie year was very special, and a lot of people will always associate him with #13 (me included).- Wpg Sun - You be the boss survey
Most people and pundits tend to think the Jets are unlikely to make the playoffs again next year. Even if you don't, many would argue that Pav isn't good enough for you to be a good playoff team. With both of those in mind, this is the order I would try to deal with the goalies: Trade Pav if you can. Would even retain $1 - 2M for his last year if it makes him more attractive as a backup. Trade Hutch if you can. You are probably only getting a 5 - 7th round pick for him. If you can't trade either of them, re-sign Hutch as an RFA and send him down at the end of training camp where he is less likely to be picked up on waivers. Let him backup Comrie for the year. We've seen what Hutch can do. I think an NHL backup is his ceiling, so I'm not so concerned about him getting less playing time with the Moose. Comrie's development is more important. I'm fine with either Helle/ Pav or Helle/ Hutch for next season. Going back to Pav / Hutch would be pointless IMO. Neither is the future and what more can Helle learn with the Moose.- 2016 Draft Standings
Realistically, who is going to trade a top 10 pick for a late first and early second? Would you make that trade if you were wearing the other GM hat?- Prospect Report
Points over 60 minutes played where the minutes are not PP or PK. It is used to measure points per minute and not penalize people on the PK or give the advantage to people who get PP time. A stat to use in conjunction with others. - Around The League Off Season Discussion
