Around The League: 2018 Offseason
Interesting, you have 85 recorded losses vs 77 wins over 81 games. Should prove to be a very interesting season indeed.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
So tell me if you would, how exactly do you hire the right people in the first place? Do you have some sort of fool proof method of knowing that a particular coach/gm, is "the right one". Honestly, you're embarrassing yourself with silliness like that comment. Maybe we should just hire people on a one year basis? Win the Cup in your first year or you're done because clearly, if you didn't win it all right away, you weren't "the right one". Or maybe we should give them two years and allow them one gimme? We were in the hiring churn for a long long time, and you can see (I hope) what that got us. So maybe, your strategy of firing people every two or three years, trying to find the "right one" isn't as smart a strategy as you thought? The evidence clearly points that out, but again, never let facts get in the way. Here's a fairly radical thought: maybe we should hire people and as long as they continue to trend up, keep them around? You know, sort of what we're actually doing.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
Firstly, I think they've made it very clear, on many occasions, that the goal is a Cup. Unfortunately, they can't just wave a magic wand and make it happen. Also, although saying this won't stop anyone from yet again bemoaning "the streak", you cannot blame the current regime for the fact that we haven't won the Cup since 1990. The past four years, and only those years are in their control. But please, don't let logic get in the way of a good rant.

Around the League 2017 - Playoffs
It's easy to say what other people should do when it's not your butt on the line. Ambrosie will, if he's smart, listen to the advice of the CFL's legal council on this. Just because he's guarding his words carefully does not mean that he doesn't care, nor does it mean that he's not working to find a solution. Of course, he could just follow the advice of the legal beagles on this board and then we'll all pat ourselves on the back when the CFL does its part to prevent any further injuries by going into insolvency.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Except that in Saskatchewan, finding the homeliest person in the room might not be a easy task.

CFL Awards on Thursday
Mr Reilly, if you're going to go 19th century, then go 19th century. Don't half-ass it.

Blue Bomber Free Agent List
Every spot in TC should be used to find the best talent available. There should be no "throw-away" spots. So if that's the case, if the Bomber scouts can't find better prospects that Greg "Remember that game a long time ago when I was good" Carr, Walters needs to find better scouts. So please, no Carr.

Blue Bomber Free Agent List
Oh God, please no. We'd look like the sad-sack Bombers of old. Bringing in a marginal player several years after his best before date. We can do better. We have to do better.

Grey Cup: Calgary vs Toronto
Downtown TO after a Grey Cup win by the Argos:

Saskatchewan @ Toronto
Oh no, a fan from a rival team has blocked me! Funny, but I seem to remember Bluto giving all sorts of excuses as to why people wouldn't support the Argos when they were at the Dome, but just wait until they move to a "real football stadium", then you'd see their true colors. Seems like a new batch of excuses might be needed. I'm actually glad that he won't read this because it might just burst his bubble, because if he's going by Nielsen rating to determine the number of Argo "fans" then he's got a problem. If people might occasionally watch a game from home and nothing else, then the best that can be said is that they are fans that know which team they're ignoring. The Toronto Argonauts - their logo should be a black hole sucking in dollar signs. Go Stamps!

Saskatchewan @ Toronto
Ticket sales would disagree with your estimate. Or maybe in the east, one is considered a fan if they can identify the team logo two times out of three. Considering the number of times that the rest of the CFL (especially here in the west) have bailed out your team, I think the word that you're looking for not "dickish", it's "understandable". Not to worry Bluto, some of us may make fun, but we'll be here for you the next time your team needs rescuing.

I think there was a promotion going on. I believe it was: "Come to a free Argo's game and we'll drive you there, give you a jersey to wear, buy you a meal afterwards and give you tickets to something you'd really want to go to " night. I also understand that the time spent at an Argo's game can be used for "community service" in the Ontario fine option program.

Bombers Re-sign Neufeld and Hardrick
Not to pile on, but if you're wearing the uniform on game day, you need to be ready to go. It's not the player's call to decide if he "feels he can do it" or if he's "comfortable". You're getting paid, you bloody well better be ready to play if called upon.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
Well, Walters is clearly wrong. Pigseye has it on good authority,

Halifax Expansion
Being that Halifax is on the ocean, and boats are a big part of their heritage and voyages started or ended there, how about the Argonauts. It's not like 99.99999% of Torontonians would notice or care.

I like Matt Nichols
Walters might disagree with you on that.

Lapolice Should Say No To Any Offers From Bob Glieberman Wettenhall In MTL
If we do, I hope that we insist he drive there. Having to go through Saskatchewan should nip that in the bud, toot sweet.

When do we fire Richie Hall?
Further to the discussion about scheme vs players, it would appear that our GM is suggesting that maybe scheme might have played a bigger part that players (of course a GM would think that) from Ed Tait's Twitter feed:

Here's the thing. Hall used Hurl in Regina too, as I recall. Then, once Hall escaped the pit, he managed to drag Hurl out of it as well. Now, while helping anyone escape Saskatchewan is a good thing, Hall didn't have to also provide employment too but yet, here Hurl is. If Hall really didn't want Hurl and truly believed that Hurl was hurting the defense, he sure has a funny way of showing that. I find it difficult to believe that someone would put them self in a position to fail on purpose.

Blow out
I too have loved the very effective "Booch slapdown" handed to some of our self proclaimed experts. Very enjoyable to watch. At the same time Booch, thanks so much for sharing these "in-depth" type views. They are fascinating.

As yes, the Taman approach. That explains his incredible success and why he's still such a factor in this league.
