Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan
A few comments on your post. First of all, I live in the same community that Brendan is from and from what I've been told, he really liked Winnipeg. Its only a 4 1/2 hr drive from here. Rumours they wanted to move him to center may have been a factor. I have never spoke to him about it even though I know him, out of respect to his privacy. What I post is strictly my opinion. There were Bomber jerseys hanging in every bar and restaurant in town, because everyone here was/is dam proud to see him playing pro ball. His parents are rider fans but I've seen them at many games wearing their Bomber jerseys like any proud parents/family would. Would anyone expect any less. In the 2008 draft we took Shologan 4th and pasted on Brendan when we could have drafted him. In now way, shape or form could I possibly say I know that he would have stayed or not, but I do find it odd to read that others are positive that he wouldn't have. Currently there are Stamps jerseys hanging too with Jones on them. Our little town has turned out 3 olineman in the past 5 years. Using Neufeld as a example, his parents are long time season ticket holders and sit right behind the rider bench as they have for years. Paddy basically got hurt and in the mean time Heenan came in and took that job and owned it. Paddy now is in a good situation with the bombers and everyone here is happy and proud of him. Wishing him every success in the world for a long and healthy career. I believe he is very good and was sorry to see him go. Just this year we lost Zack Evans to Ottawa via the draft. He is a free agent at years end and I'm sure I'm not the only one that was hoping he would return this winter to play for the Riders. He re-signed a bit ago and opted to stay in Ottawa. He likes it there and its a good situation for him. Again, no hard feelings here, Wishing him the best of luck. Long storey short, Manitoba and Sask aren't that far apart, being in one or the other offers great opportunities for family and friends to stay close and still come watch games. For a Manitoba kid that didn't get a chance to play for the bombers, would it not be at least reasonable to suggest being right next door in Sask would be the next best thing? just my 2 cents, no hard feelings were intended.

Mike O'Shea's leadership
Just a question. What's the storey with Paddy? I was looking forward to seeing him play. Is he a healthy scratch? Why hasn't he been 6-gamed? Has he lost his job as a starter?
-
Mike O'Shea's leadership
Agreed. For anyone who has ever had a promotion etc. at work, quite often the friend / still just one of the guys approach is attempted. Its when you have friggin had it with the guys pushing their luck that the true boss arrives. That day is coming for O'Shea. I'll stand by my comment that he was/is a good choice to be head coach. Losing will not sit well with him and I'm sure it isn't, heads will roll before seasons end.
-
Mike O'Shea's leadership
I am actually surprised by this. I would have thought Mike would have been a lot tougher on the players on that front. I like that he doesn't publicly throw them under the bus, but behind closed doors I thought heads would roll. The fact that Kuale is still playing is puzzling to me. I think he was/is a excellent choice to coach and believe as he gets more comfortable he will put more of his personal touch on the team. Just my 2 cents.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan
I think the more realistic situation is the Riders dump Picard to afford Heenan. Then we can pick up Picard and Tim O'neill and continue on with a terrible OL. It's the Bomber way. This theory has merit. With younger and cheaper replacements at center in Clack and Watman, Picard could be a guy that gets moved. As far as Heenan, I'd fall off my chair if he doesn't sign here.

Yes he was, and Taman signed him to a try out contract. I don't know if that try out ever occurred. I can't find much information about it. It doesn't matter anyway. The reason I mentioned it was simply that Taman has made some good moves in his career..

Dressler? Taman was the GM in Winnipeg when Dressler was signed by the Riders. Taman brought Dressler in with the Bombers. Think it was 2007 but not sure, he was on your practice roster and was later cut. The next year he signed as a walk on with the Riders. I'll have to look it up because I'm second guessing myself now. Don't want to post mis- information.

Did Taman not bring Geroy Simon to the Peg also, and Dressler?

Will A Bomber Win This Friday Cause Hank To Be Permanently Benched?
So people are wired like that though, they look at their own team through critical eyes but gloss over a lot of problems with other teams. See it happen all the time. Its the passion for ones team that sometimes prevents us from being objective at times. We're fans!! That automatically means we are neither objective nor dispassionate. If we were, what would be the point in watching games and yelling at the TV? My wife keeps asking me if I think they can hear me when I'm yelling. I tell her " your dam right." lol.

Time To Make Carl Volny The Number 1 RB And Use Stoudemire On End Arounds
People have been saying that for a few years now. I think he makes the team again for the simple reason that he's shown himself able to be an in game fill in at RB if needed and obviously does enough on special teams to be kept around. In other words, he's a good depth NI and those guys keep their jobs very often. No question about it. Canadian depth and good on teams. He's only 28 I think also. If he can come in here and there and not hurt the team that is a bonus.

Will Ottawa win another game this year?
Have to disagree with you on this- if this was the 2013 Bombers, I could not find fault with your logic, but its 2014. We may be short on talent at the moment, but we have Willy, even if he's banged up and the overall team compares very favourably to Ottawa. This has to be a pride game and we could call it the Futility Bowl. If Ottawa loses it will be no big deal to them, but if the Bombers lose to this sad lot, they deserve to walk back to Winnipeg. What worries me is that Hank could have his one spectacular game of the year against us. Nope you are good to go, Skank has his annual good game against us 2 weeks ago.

Normally I would take criticisms of the clarity of my posts more seriously. For whatever reason, you don't make the cut today. Sorry. Taman "had" Khari but he sure as hell didn't find him. BC did. The only reason he got Glenn was that SK had plethora at the time and he was able to snake Glenn by way of TO. Taman's bird dogging at the QB position is embarrassing. I guess one good thing for you is you guys don't have to put up with a crappy GM like Taman anymore.

I agree, his legacy however will be one of inconsistency. He's not the guy to win you a cup. In Ottawa's case they aren't going to be a contender for the cup anytime soon so it doesn't matter. Lets take a quick look at their defence- last in sacks for, worst for rush yards allowed, worst for rushing td's allowed, 3rd worst for pass yards allowed. I'm not going to defend Burris but their defence has been their biggest problem IMO.

Kenny Ploen likely to return this season
The Fantuz flakes are not part of the deal. I wonder if Kenny can still scramble?

On Burris and Irony
There is no way that offer was on the table. I'd fire Taman on the spot if he made that move. Taman has never shied away from trading first round picks for quarterbacks though, in fact I'm pretty sure he's been quoted as saying that first round picks for qbs or starting NIs is a no brainer or something similar. Unless he has gotten wiser with age that is exactly the kind of trade Taman would do. Serious question. Haven't we all gotten wiser with age? or at least most of us? Taman has made some good moves for us, and I'm really trying to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one until I hear otherwise.

What you are saying is true. But a 1st round pick and a starter off our roster for Burris, no way man, no way. Even if I am wrong, why wouldn't the Redblacks have jumped at it? Burris has had a pretty good career but he is done.

Devin Tyler
That's pretty much what I would say. He had a couple of stops here with us. He is a big man that's for sure. He didn't look out of place out there but for whatever reason never locked up a job. Being non-import likely was the biggest thing going against him IMO. Had he been a national likely would have had a lot more playing time. I'll be interested to see how he does for you guys. He may be able to help out while you battle through injuries and be a serviceable backup later. Also being American, he likely comes at a salary cap friendly price. Non import and national mean the same thing. sorry, typo, I meant that Tyler is a import.

Boudreaux Trade
Agreed, many rider fans are also questioning the move. Hilee taylor has been a disappointment . BB is 25 years old and his contract is up at end of the year. If BB shows better than Taylor and resigns in the offseason its a good move for us. I disagree with those who think we gave up too much, late draft picks are a crap shoot IMO anyways. Chick and Foley are both north of 30, doesn't hurt to start looking around a bit.
