17 sacks on pass plays, 1 on a run this year. 8.0% of dropbacks. For Collaros 28 sacks on passing plays last year, 1 on a running play (CFL quirk). The other Bombers QBs were sacked 5 times. 5.6% of dropbacks in 2022, 8.0% of dropbacks in 2023...a substantial increase. I haven't caught up charting pressures but Zach is under pressure a little less than last season's 28% of dropbacks.
  2. The amazing stuff is Brady Olivera is on pace for 1350 yards

West Semi Final -- 11 of 21 for 193 yards and a TD West Final -- 17 of 25 for 267 yards and a TD Grey Cup -- 17 of 23 for 170 yards I think the argument that is being made here, and that the Bombers were a 3rd place team, Streveler was at least somewhat injured (and underwhelming as a non-gadget player) and the depth QB was Sean McGuire. If you don't pick up Collaros, maybe you grab another QB instead and not have to trot him out there, but McGuire with his one career start, 15-36 for 221 yards that includes 1 TD against 4 interceptions doesn't really inspire much confidence.

Emphasises just how bad Twitter is for communicating ideas of this magnitude. It is a silly medium.
  12. build it from center out, and if the issues still are there...re-visit whats going on...I bet a bigger...more physical center....with huge upside, not to mention pedigree fixes a lot of what looks like poor play...plain and simple...Its one small simple tweak, and wouldnt upset the apple cart...also its a player who has been here, and played with all the guys on the oline for parts of 3 seasons now....so he will be familiar with everyone and everything
  13. 3 points
well when you break it down....by numbers you are mistaken...Its more depth thing right now, and rotation issue...due to said depth, and if not fixed...will prob wear the Dline down currently we rank 1st sacks...we have played 1 more game than BC but the other teams are well behind us...we give up the lowest 1st down yardage in league....1st in comp. % against and 2nd in pass yards per game...a lot which can be linked to the dline play, as QB's are obviously not getting the time to make reads, or stand in there and deliver the ball....we also are 2nd in QB efficiency against as well...another thing which is a direct link to the dline play. and are middle of the road in rush yards against. So our starting Dline guys....save for a flip flop of Lawson from Thomas, and when Haba was in are doing their job and upgrade in talent is a mis-informed comment......Its the total lack of depth behind them on the game day roster, and zero of it on the PR which is the issue, and pretty much playing with fire until we address it

I think the effectiveness of the downfield passing game, which I'd expect to start clicking soon, will also help the pass pro. When ZC8 has it firing on all cylinders, it forces a D to spread out more.

I was watching this video on Youtube and I just wanted to say - what amazing talent - Mama Cass and John Denver - that both left this world way before they should have. One day I hope that technology allows future generations to capture the genius of people like this and can store it and perhaps pass it on somehow. The Divine Spark. Whatever it is that exists in creative minds that have created so much beauty and art and magic that we enjoy to this day, that they just somehow created out of their own minds and passed on to us lucky ones who don't have their talent. Perhaps somehow one day we can study this "innovation" and capture it and replicate it. To further enhance the beautiful human experience.

Except the D was so much better in 2019. Nichols was very good in a lot of playoff games for winnipeg but the D let him down. Let us not forget the team was 7-1 when he got hurt. So yes I absolutely believe that a tandem of Nichols and streveler with as good as the D was playing can win that cup.

You don't have to agree with me, but you're wrong if you think the changes on D didn't have more to do with elevating the team considering how much streveler actually played in the post season. Collaros was part of it, but his impact was more the following season. He and streveler both were big parts of the qb picture, it was solidifying the secondary that unleashed the defense to be an ungodly terror.
  20. Ti-Cats basically gave Davis to the Stamps, sixth-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft. Vaughters may be out for the season so the Stamps had a big hole to fill. Semi-pleased Walters isn't interested in old has-beens.
  21. Oliveira is a guy built to wear down a defense. Yeah it will be less effective early on, but keep at it and will pay off late. Just need to string together a few more first downs than they have been.

Streveler wasn't a rookie and had already won games in the cfl before... AND did more to win in calgary than collaros did anyway. The way the D was playing that post season no doubt in my mind they could have won if they had to go with just streveler. If they hadn't improved the D though no way collaros would have won. Would have been no difference than the years Nichols was good in the post season and lost anyway because the D couldn't seal the deal.

The only thing that gives me hope is that when the world went into a form of lockdown for COVID, some noticeable climate repair was suggested pretty quickly, showing that the planet has the capability of healing itself if humans can stay out of the way. So the planet can be saved, the question is if it will exterminate humans first to get there.

There are so many unappreciated musical geniuses out there already that it is hard to fathom. We have no need to extract the past in order to move forward. Great music is art and should similarly be preserved and not replicated.

We finished 3rd in the West in 2019. Not sure what you are talking about? I think there was a little Collaros magic in our 2019 run for sure, but it is overstated. What ZC brought to us that year was a decent QB capable of running our offence in the absence of Nichols. A healthy pre-injury Nichols/Streveler stood a very good chance of running the table in the playoffs with that defence.

It is hard not to lose all optimism regarding our future climate. To get into a mental space of despair is easy with all the news and projections. I've shared it before, but one book that helped me have some optimism is The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. It is science-based fiction, but it is well researched and shows a fictional account of how climate disasters, some of which we are seeing already, can cause huge changes in behaviour (which we are not seeing). Unfortunately we are experiencing the hottest temperatures recorded and we are actually seeing some regression from climate pledges. P&G have recently cut their forestry pledge (Focus: P&G drops forest pledge, drawing ire of green groups, investors | Reuters) and other organizations are going back on carbon neutral pledges. I am hugely skeptical of any corporate announcements of carbon neutral by 2050 pledges. Both because it is too little too late, but also because it is easy to take the advantages of those announcements and then walk them back as it becomes obvious that it is too financially lucrative to abandon them.

Semi fic*ed "So that brings us back to where we started. Yes, we have failed to prevent dangerous climate change. It is here. What remains to be seen is just how bad we’re willing to let it get. A window of opportunity remains for averting a catastrophic 1.5C/2.7F warming of the planet, beyond which we’ll see far worse consequences than anything we’ve seen so far. But that window is closing and we’re not making enough progress. We cannot afford to give in to despair. Better to channel our energy into action, as there’s so much work to be done to prevent this crisis from escalating into a catastrophe. If the extremes of this summer fill you with fears of imminent and inevitable climate collapse, remember, it’s not game over. It’s game on." Michael Mann, eminent climate scientist. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jul/19/heatwave-climate-omen-change-course-weather-models I volunteered all winter feeding at a salmon hatchery, van. island. there are people there who have spent sixty years working on this project. we released the fish into a few streams. yesterday we were asked to get ready to move them, by buckets, cause the one of the streams has dried up, due to record low rainfall. very disturbing. how awful to see your life work, selflessly spent helping others, destroyed for the sake of billionaire oil company owners like the kochs. who are investors in Alberta I think.

All we needed for that run was someone to Game Manage the Nichols offense and the rest of the team would take care of everything else. I still believe healthy Nichols with Strev could have won us that GC. All we needed was a game manager to steady the ship and let the D do it's thing.
  42. It's not our typical overwhelming domination this year....I'll give you that. Still the league's best OL. I think you are just spoiled by what we've had here for the last 3 or 4 years. This year our OL has come back to the pack a bit but its hyperbole to say they are playing badly.
  43. Nope he snapped every ball, Eli came in for a few plays here and there especially late. Kola is not a world beater but boy is his 'cave in' reputation way overblown. The replay is posted in the GDT I'm ready to go break down every snap. Live in the GDT thought I was taking crazy pills, the 'Kolapse' when it's Bryant that oles his man, the supposed 'bad protection call' by Kola when Dobson just plain gets beat one on one, the 2nd down Bailey catch when 'Kola is in Collaros' lap' while literally being the furthest downfield of any OL, it's crazy that the entire OL can take turns coughing up bad plays but the center is the only one under a microscope on the forum I don't even like the guy that much it's the whipping boy routine that wears on me
  44. 2 points
Yes he looked suspect to me as well but they did take over in the 4th and he was a part of it. First game gelling, I am optimistic he can bring more in the long run
  45. Lol. Kolankowski being caved in repeatedly while taking 2 holding calls is rated as the 2nd best o-lineman of the week?? Was he not also replaced by Eli at times in the 2nd half? CFL.CA's "rankings" are toilet paper.
  46. In ZC8's entire Bombers tenure, I have never seen him under duress like he has been this year. I don't know enough to know if it's on the OL or something else, but it is a MAJOR problem. The first half of that LOLK's game was infuriating and so obvious that even Suitor picked up on it.... so there is definitely a problem.
  47. agreed....and first 2 games were just dominant....as well as dominant spells in some others....the BC game was just weird all around, and the O-line shouldn't be judged solely on that....We gave up 1/3rd of our sacks basically in that game
  48. They used a lot of Eli in the 4th quarter when the run game took over. I believe they had extra OL in but perhaps if the guy is good enough to make that much difference he should get more reps.
