some of these names sound familiar......
  2. The operations cap is a poor idea. No reason to penalize teams who can and will spend more on scouting and quality coaching. Its limiting the ability to move on from poor coaching and GM hires as well.

anyone who thinks that getting the vaccine is going to kill you in 5 years is a moron, yes.... there's no other way to describe it. It's wildly dangerous and inflammatory misinformation. That's not just "another person's opinion"......

The thing that really separates Allen and Glenn is the Allen didn't fold in the big games.
  5. 3 points
and the thing is, I think everyone knows it, and it wouldn't surprise me if it gets tossed or at least the limit raised quite a bit.....which might be why Walters new deal isn't done. Everyone seems to think Miller basically runs the league, so I wonder if he wouldn't raise **** at the league level to get that changed, and then give Walters a big raise (which he's earned...)

Walters didn't sign collaros and oshea for 3 more seasons to walk away after next season.

She's as good a fall guy as they need. Then the Cons can wring their hands and blame the public for not accepting a woman as premier, and therefore not the fault of their politics.

And something like that may be exactly what’s happening. But it’s all..whatever will be, will be. I have zero concerns about Walters. How they manage it is above our heads and kept completely private until they announce it.
  11. 2 points
Miller is just trying to keep the price down. Walters ain't going anywhere unless he wants to.

At the very least it looks to be going back up. https://3downnation.com/2022/10/24/cfl-operations-cap-to-increase-to-pre-pandemic-levels-in-2023-report/ Being told the @CFL football ops cap is increasing to 2.5 million (from 2.3). The cap had been reduced during covid, this brings it back. Spots are still the same, up to 11 coaches and 25 total in football ops.

Which then circles back to can you please get back to governing, true leadership and stop playing your weaselly games.
  17. 1 point
Yeah, just all his bad injury luck prevented him from getting full seasons. All counts for his career number though.
  18. 1 point
he had some really good time with Hamilton, as well, though, which I think counts toward his "all time" status.... his Cups here just cement it all.
  19. 1 point
Collaros just needs some longevity. His current contract puts him at 5 seasons with us (shortened season notwithstanding), which is kind of my personal minimum for "all time" honours.
  20. Allen in Toronto was sort of like Manning with the Broncos They had an outstanding D (O'Shea, Younger, Steinauer et. al.) and they were good in the trenches He managed games for them and ended up with a GC I think KG could have filled that role If he plays a few more seasons at his current level, you have to add Collaros to the conversation
  21. 1 point
I don't think anyone puts Glenn in the list.
  22. I always found that he was good at throwing to possession type receivers, getting rid of the ball quickly and making very few turnovers Both Matthews and Trestman knew this, and set up the O to emphasize his strengths. Kevin Glenn has entered the chat.

It's the argument behind absolute best talent - but left for the NFL (Flutie and Moon). And the best pure CFL guy, so accumulated more CFL stats (Allen, Calvillio, Ray, Dunigan). Throw in team/generational biases on top of that. For my money, Ray is the best to do it.
  24. That is fair. Calvillio is also arguably the greatest QB in the history of the league and a local legend - is that the criteria a POC needs to fill for an outside shot? I do not know what Archambault's heritage is. I don't imagine he has any shot though. I simply got to say - from a competitive and diversity stand point, Danny should have cast a wider net. It looks like the old Popp teams where he's hiring someone to fail so he can take over again. And again, a lot of people weren't happy when Jones was fired. The reasoning wasn't sound. And his candidates to replace Jones look to have the same discipline issues in their past as Jones - so what is Danny hoping for?
  25. Or they are paying Dickenson what he's worth lol.

nowhere was it suggested that Walters is going to walk away..... what's being discussed is Miller's quote about not being able to keep everyone in management/coaching ranks because of the non-player salary cap. This is the odd quote that has people fretting..... this quote was in response to whether or not they're working on a contract extension for Walters...
  34. 1 point
I fully expect Walters to walk away one day. It 100% will not be in the middle of one of the most successful runs the CFL has ever seen. The media can try to make a story out of it if they want....click bait articles don't write themselves.
  35. WTF is Hodge doing? What a greasy comment that was. Claiming Miller is "non committal" about Walters. Trying to create a controversy that isn't there. Just another fanboy masquerading as a journalist.

That's the key, they rarely do, they provide sound bites of negativity to dwell on and shout out, but rarely provide a contrary plan or an explanation of their reasoning. Mainly because their followers are either too lazy to bother looking deeper into an issue than the soundbite itself, or are intellectually incapable of understanding it's complexity.
