  8. Teams will be very motivated to give that halo to returners. Also, tackling a guy who has his head down, picking up a ball is absolutely the equivalent to roughing the passer.

I agree. Manitoba has had great uptake numbers on the vaccine, and as a whole, I think a progressive attitude towards them except maybe in some of the more rural areas. I am as fearful as anyone about another mass scale outbreak but I see this as a big nothing burger really. It's an outdoor venue with the overwhelming majority being fully vaxxed. I think Manitoba's restrictions were as harsh as anywhere in Canada, and I strongly believe that Public Health would not allow this if it were a high risk move. Should another wave of pandemic hit hard then I believe the Bombers would do what is right.

Well he does now. Thanks for that. Sloan, PP and their ilk can’t help themselves from stealing plays from the playbook of Trump and his Magats to froth up knuckle draggers here in our own back yard. Can’t even come up with their own stuff, and be original, have to copy the wingnuts in the US. Embarrassing to Canadians.

  15. I like the Cody Fajardo rule they brought in. He's been faking committing then running some more for years and it was a pretty blatant abuse of the rule. I am sure Rider fans will object to that rule change though, they thought it was brilliant every time he did it. I don't mind that rule change. There was not much incentive to keep the no yards after the ball hit the turf.
  16. i'm calling it now: the 15 yard no yards penalty is going to end terribly the punishment doesn't fit the crime on that one essentially what they're saying is that a borderline, bouncing no yards is equivalent to a roughing the passer or unnecessary roughness.
  17. Oh God, don't change the OT rules. It works. Let's just play two handed touch.

Multiple All Star Center Bob Swift. He was the Center for Don Jonas, Chuck Ealey & Dieter Brock from 1971-77. Came into the league in 1964 with the Lions as a fullback rushing for over a thousand yards & named ROTY. Swift blew his knee out in the 1964 Grey Cup early in the first quarter & missed the rest of the game. He was able to come back as a player when his injury healed but his running days were over. The Lions converted him to Guard in 1965. Acquired by the Argos in 1966 where he also played Center. Traded to the Bombers in a positional swap. We traded our starting Center Paul Desjardins to the Argos for their Center Bob Swift prior to the 1971 season. He was a four time CFL Western Conference All Star in 1971, 72, 73 & 74. as well as an All Canadian in 1971, 72 & 74.

I was looking for that one. This was a tough day to pick. Had KD Williams, Tom Canada, and three Hall of Famers in Bob Swift, Roger Savoie, and Lou Mogul as other options to choose from, but a Cup hoisting gif is never a bad choice. Here are photos of the tackle: And here is the video. The specific play is at 5:40 but the whole thing is worth watching again!

Confirming what everyone already knew- that Canada has its share of home-grown fascists. This actually is a public service announcement to help those who were unsure of under which rock the jackholes are hiding.
  25. Hey fellas, found this book on amazon, just came out in January. Its called Border Boys and its basically a historical look at football in general but mostly focusses on the American players that lived close to Canada that came up north in the 30's and helped change our game. Specifically about the first time the Grey Cup was won by a western team(Winnipeg in 1935). Its written by a North Dakotan (Ryan Christiansen). I just got into it but it really seems like he's done his research. Thought you all might find it interesting. Thats Fritz Hanson on the cover who essentially became the first true Winnipeg Blue Bomber star back in the 30's. He pretty much single handedly won us the 1935 Grey Cup from what ive read(334 punt return yards in the game which is still a Grey Cup record). My late grandmother would often speak of his exploits 🙂

  32. Introduce the 2 forward passes allowed in one play rule!
  33. Rules don't screw teams over unless they aren't paying attention. This will be no different. I like all the changes. I'm not gonna hold my breath for it, but I'm hoping someone takes advantage of the 2 qbs on the field at 1 time rule.
  34. Starting at the 40 after a FG will change the game. It was fine the way it was. But of course other than the hash marks, they had to go overboard. to make it look like they actually did something.
  35. don't mind most of the changes, but the 15 yards for all no yards one is brutal. that's overkill

  41. this was who Hodge had us taking in his first mock, and I'm now inclined to believe that's who we'll take. Ferguson had us getting Zerr at 9 (in his first mock), but I just can't imagine a world where the Riders let a USask OL fall to us. I'm betting on Pelehos and think he'll be a good one, based on everything I've read.
