My daughter (grade 3) and her class wear their masks all day with the exception of 2 snacks and lunch time without any issues. She's to the point now that when we pick her up from school, we have to tell her she can take her mask off because she doesn't even really notice it's there anymore.

This is going a bot off-topic, but someone proposed that if a country is thinking of going to war, it should be under three conditions: All of the politicians who vote for a war will have the names of 10 of their closest friends/family put into a draw where 1 of these 10 will be drafted and sent to front-line positions, All citizens and corporations will have a visible "war tax" put onto their income statements and, No corporation would be allowed to make profit on the war and must supply all goods and services at cost.

The restrictions make it clear the economy is held above all else including family connections and mental & physical health. Increasing restrictions does not bother me personally much. Due to having a newborn and an autoimmune condition, my family has held ourselves to more restrictive standards than governmental restrictions for the past year. Its sucked, but hopefully it will change soon. It would be nice if the restrictions made sense and showed compassion for anything other than the almighty dollar. Its also really unfortunate about the idiots at the rallies and nothing being done about enforcement. They should all be fined with the fine going to support small businesses. They claim their rally is to support small businesses, so they should happily pay the fine.

That's the information we were given at the start of the year - the directive has not changed. So, according to Public Health, the answer, yes. I mean, of course it's not perfect, but it is better than remote learning - kids can't wear masks all day without a break - no one can. It takes a great deal of time and effort to get mask wearing done properly.

No, I actually don't think THIS government would do that, as you're right...we know it's not normal and wouldn't accept it. My worry is the normalizing of this with the lack of education around the reasons why. *worst case scenario time* why don't we do this for flu season? It kills people, even children...I've come close to this with my family...So even I'm like...I can see a reason to have a government mandate on visitors during a really bad flu season...but maybe in a decade someone suggests it would be a good way to keep people working etc...so now during flu season these measures are taken...then after that it's for some other reason and so on and so on...until over the course of decades it's completely normal for us to ask the government who we can visit. *worst case scenario over* And yes this is absolutely alarmist, but I'd rather have the conversation or at least acknowledge it then completely ignore it and pretend the government isn't creeping into our homes. I am a worst case scenario person at heart after all. Again I do think that worst case scenario won't play out, I can even quote sources showing how similar moves in the 1920s didn't end up dragging society down that path...but again I won't pretend like it can't happen.

Are you suggesting that the government might continue to dictate household visitors when there is no reason for it? What is their ulterior motive? If we are vaccinated and the pandemic is effectively over and they are still restricting household visitors then trust me, I'll help you light the torches and gather the pitchforks. Til then it seems a bit alarmist worrying aloud about it.

I do wonder if the restrictions are setup to target where they are seeing transmission. I know a week or so back Dr. Roussin had said that most transmissions they were seeing were from houshold gatherings and sleepovers, so if that's the case, the restrictions make total sense. That being said, they should actually say that in the press conference so that it's clear to people. The fact that they aren't shutting down kids activities is a sign to me that they do see the mental and physical health benefits to those activities.

MAGA donor's private school says it is now 'policy not to employ' vaccinated teachers The founder of the first "happiness school" in America is a Miami-based anti-vaxxer who has just announced she is banning any teacher who has been vaccinated from being in contact with students – to "protect" the students. Teachers are required to notify the school, Centner Academy, in writing of their vaccination status and are urged to wait until summer to get their vaccine if they have not yet been inoculated against the coronavirus. Leila Centner, who co-founded Centner Academy with her husband, David Centner, "with a very heavy heart" notified faculty in a letter, saying "we cannot allow recently vaccinated people to be near our students until more information is known," The New York Times reports. "Teachers who get the vaccine over the summer will not be allowed to return", the letter said," until clinical trials on the vaccine are completed, and then only 'if a position is still available at that time' — effectively making teachers' employment contingent on avoiding the vaccine." But CBS Miami (video below) reports that letter also reads in part: "It is our policy, to the extent possible, not to employ anyone who has taken the experimental COVID-19 injection until further information is known." Centner told faculty they are required to fill out a confidential form disclosing their vaccination status, and "acknowledge the School will take legal measures needed to protect the students if it is determined that I have not answered these questions accurately," according to the Times.

I believe that it's restrictions targeting where they are seeing transmissions. The schools that are seeing transmissions are being shifted to remote learning, but they aren't forcing everyone to go that way if there are school populations that aren't being affected. The majority of cases were being seen when people were visiting each others' homes, so that is what they are cracking down on.

Not at all... it's about money. Having your buds over at your house generates very little to the economy. Keeping stores/restaurants open even at a limited capacity is much better for the economy. I do agree though that church should be 100% closed. Schools are open because it's child care to help the working people stay at work. I'm not saying it's morally correct, but to me it makes sense.

Governments have the right to order you to go to France Live in a trench up to your knees in fetid water, surrounded by dead comrades and horses and crawling with millions of rats while constantly being pounded by artillery . Then climb out of that muck hole and run straight at a machine gun. But apparently in the mind of some they can't make you wear a mask or get a little prick in the arm. My great uncle that died like that, and my other great uncle that lived like that at 14 years old would have something to say to them. As would my uncle who burned to death in a bomber 25 years later. Yet we have all these people who think wearing a mask to to big of a sacrifice to make. It makes me sick.
