So is my interest in the league in general i make no bones about it, if I wanted to watch the best football players in the world I’d watch the NFL. a Canadian NFL rules league offers me nothing

The day the CFL drops 3 down football is the day I’ll stop being a die hard fan. I’ll likely still go to and watch Bomber games, but my investment would decrease significantly if we adopt American rules.

My first reaction was What the F???? My second reaction was WHY? IF... It just means cross promotion, then this is much ado about nothing. IF... It means CFL rules played in both countries, then I'm for it. I don't care about field size. I know it would mean killing the ratio, but it's not the passports that matter, it's the rules. IF... It means 4 down, NFL rules in both countries, then I'd rather let the CFL die.

If it means growing the sport itself, fine. But that's it. No four down football in Canada. No merger or expansion into the US. None of that shite. Keep Canadian football ******* Canadian.

The XFL is league that has played fewer games EVER than the CFL played in 2019. What's the plan for 2021, CFL?

I had a similar thought this morning. I'd rather the league die an honourable death than see it become something awful like Minor League NFL.....

Simply put ..there's just too many disparities between the leagues and it's rules....A bridge too far

Well that's just it. You don't save something you kill. If the CFL is 4 downs...it's not the CFL. Difference is, the last CFL (Emphasis on CFL) expansion I was a child. So no. IF (obviously big if at this point) this is the end of 3 down football I will stop my season tickets. I'm not going to pay what I pay now for a game I'm not going to enjoy watching. That doesn't mean I won't take in a game here or there, but I will not be a season ticket holder.

Why won't someone think of children! (But seriously, my older son loves going to games but he's a sports nut. I mean, he gets excited for pre-season baseball. Pre-season baseball!!!... But my younger son, has no interest in sports but likes to go to the odd game because of the experience. Make it fun for him. They need to get more kids at games.)

Ambrosie took a league that was uniquely Canadian and felt like something that was very own and instead of focusing his attention on enhancing all the things that made our league successful and looking for ways to grow the game within our borders, he’s taken it and tried to turn it into something that it’s not. I personally don’t give a **** if guys from Japan, Arkansas or Helsinki like the CFL. I like that it was something we as Canadians could be proud of.

A) **** the riders B ) they had their fair share of lucky brakes last year. Including but not limited to being gifted a W after 1 half of football. Without that W they aren't in 1st. Give them all the credit you want, but that 1 win had a big impact on the rest of their year.

If it's just a partnership to for cross-promotion and to give the players more opportunities, then I'm all for it. If it's the end of 3 down football, I will be devastated. I've already been in a back-and-forth with an Argo fan (not Bluto, the other Argo fan) who says he doesn't care. So, maybe there is a population out there that does not care and will watch 4 down football in Canada.

I see a lot of people on social media saying that you can play both sets of rules dependent on the home team. That won't work for multiple reasons. Could you imagine the playbook if a team had to be ready for NFL style and CFL style football lol.

I won’t be a fan of it if we merge with the XFL, but I’ll give it a chance if we keep the rules that make our league what it is. People can talk about how “the CFL needs this to survive” all they want, we are literally talking about a potential merge with a league that hasn’t proven **** all to this point. If they want our help, we need something out of it too and that something should be our rules. Field size, three downs, 12 men and I’d give it a shot. Four down 11 man football? I don’t give a **** if the Bombers are playing in my backyard, I’ll watch the NFL instead. That’s not the CFL to me.

Objectively they were a lucky team last year. Anyone actually think Cody Fajardo is going to play at that same level again? They are also a team that relies heavily on older players. They might have finished with a better record but they were paper tigers which is why the Bombers were able to beat them at home in the playoffs both years.

It seems that the same cast of characters post here every spring saying how god awful the Riders are and how they are so overrated, and yet they somehow managed to top the Western conference last season (2 years ago) and finish 2nd and host a playoff game the year before that. Hate on them all you want, but they were objectively a very good team last time out.

A reminder these are betting odds and not the probability of winning the Grey Cup. Betting odds are impacted and changed based on popularity many times and how they predict money will be placed down for future bets. It's much more prelevent in Boxing/MMA fights with people betting on names they recognize (Connor McGregor) rather then actual who is the better talent. They have Saskatchewan high because it's more likely that Rider fans are willing to throw money down on a bet.
