When he kicked that 63 yard FG the entire football world went nuts. I remember that as clear as day.I didn't see the play until the next day on ABC's MNF with Howard Cosell praising the kick in his own unique & inimatable way back in 1970. It was also the same season where 48 year old George Blanda of the Oakland Raiders was winning games as the starting qb & kicker after the starter Daryle Lamonica was lost for the season with injury.

Nearly half of all Alberta doctors are planning on leaving the province because the current government decided to rip up their agreement and create a new billing plan. In the midst of a pandemic. Just ******* moronic. They're trying to basically break any union that exists in the province.

In a sport where the off season seems to go on forever under normal circumstances, and we go from week to week searching for something to fixate on, we get this dam’penic. We’re cursed for the longest off season ever.

What’s going on this weekend in the U.S. CBC News Alerts - Authorities declared a riot overnight in Portland, Ore., where protesters breached a fence surrounding the courthouse where U.S. agents have been stationed. The protesters were rallying against George Floyd's killing and the presence of federal agents. BBC News -* Police in the US city of Seattle clashed with crowds marching in support of anti-racism protests, in one of the most tense of several rallies held across the country on Saturday.* In Louisville, Kentucky hundreds of members of a black militia demanded justice for Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman who was fatally shot when officers entered her flat in March.Carrying semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, the group walked in formation to a fenced off intersection where they were separated by police from a smaller crowd of armed counter-protesters. There were no reports of incidents.* Police said at least 75 people had been arrested in Omaha, Nebraska where protesters were remembering James Scurlock, a 22-year-old black man shot dead by a white bar owner in May* In Richmond, Virginia, a city dump lorry was set ablaze, police tweeted* In Los Angeles, protesters clashed with officers in front of the federal courthouse

Could you inquire about getting a shield installed on the bus? I know in Winnipeg they have them (mind it is to prevent passengers from assaulting the drivers) - but wouldn't it at least help against the virus...?

N95 masks are only used once, unfortunately & are expensive. They have to be form fitted. I doubt we'll get any compensation for using them. I'll certainly have hand sanitizer in my personal bag I carry on the bus everyday. I think our employer might do that on our buses. At least I hope so. Thanks for the kind words.

If you are going to be wearing a mask and the kids are not- I highly recommend you get N95 masks, as these are the only ones that will filter and protect you from the virus. I would even go as far as having a hand sanitizing station at the front of the bus so the kids can sanitize their hands before sitting down. I would also recommend taking the issue of the cost of the masks and sanitizer to your school division, and if nothing comes from that, talk to the school trustees. There should be no reason that you should be out of pocket for your safety. Anyways, I hope all works out for you and that you remain safe.

Unless you're our ******* Alberta Premier. Kenney is sending all kids back to school. Huge class sizes of 35-40 kids per class. No social distancing or masks in class or on school buses insisting it's safe based on some old study that is now outdated. I drive a school bus. I expected at least the kids would be wearing masks but nope. I carry 55-65 kids each on 4 different runs morning & afternoon. So over & above 200 students each day. All breathing the same air. All touching the same things. Yes, we all feel so safe. He just lost me as a supporter. **** him. **** the UCP. Utter madness to just ignore the virus in schools in an entire province of nearly 5 million people with over 10,000 cases. How long before the lawsuits start flying after people get sick??

Portland is now witnessing a standoff between protesters and an administration that continues to ratchet up its heated rhetoric to (falsely) describe the city as being in a state of total chaos and anarchy. While there have been incidents of rioting at night, including people launching fireworks at the federal building, setting fires outside, and allegedly attacking federal agents, the focal point of that activity largely centers on the city block housing the federal building. Despite the President's descriptions, Portland is not a city under siege. Mayor Ted Wheeler;"This is clearly a waste of federal resources and it's getting increasingly dangerous," he said, referring to the teams of agents protecting the federal building, who routinely clash with some rioters at night. "We did not ask the feds to be here, we do not want them here. They're not helping the situation, they're not appropriately trained and we're demanding that they leave."https://apple.news/Aj_RA8nn1R_2vWiN_1qzcRw

Yeah, the 2001 Grey Cup stings sure, but my absolute least favorite player, ever? People are forgetting some of the good things he did: 1. He referred to Regina's faithful as "a bunch of banjo-pickin' inbreds", and followed it up by 'apologizing' with "... the vast majority of people in Saskatchewan have no idea how to play the Banjo", you could argue he basically invented the Banjo Bowl, which is awesome. Also this is still funny to me today. 2. He's #6 on all-time playoff scorers as of the 2017 record book (this is the most recent available on CFL's site). 3. He played his entire CFL career with Winnipeg, and stayed here, he was also born in Manitoba (Dauphin). Would you honestly say you hate him more than the litany of terrible kickers our team fielded after him? Alexis Serna, Justin Palardy? DeAngelis? Between his last full year (2007) and now, the Bombers realistically had two stints of good kicking: (1) Hajrullahu's phenomenal rookie year and (2) The current Medlock era. Is he gonna have a statue outside IGF anytime soon? Nope...but worst ever? Don't know about that...

Sad to report that Ted Gerela, the first soccer style kicker in the CFL passed away on July 20th in Chilliwack, BC. He played for the Lions from 1967-73. He was the West's ROTY in 1967 & was the leading scorer in the CFL in 1968 with 115 points. His 30 field goals that season was a pro football record at the time. He was the first to do it. Gerela was a trailblazer as most soccer style kickers were looked upon at the time as strange. They could kick further than a straight ahead kicker but their accuracy was a problem. Gerela's success helped pave the way for others to follow. His brother Roy played 11 seasons for the Steelers & won 3 Super Bowls. Ted Gerela's son Ted Jr had an unsuccessful tryout with the Lions. He was a 7th round pick in the 1993 draft as a linebacker.
