It's a global pandemic and you are looking at it through a very narrow lens. California and Michigan had their **** together and look what happened. I don't understand how your Manitoba solution resonates with opening things up. Opening things up means opening up tourism too. How do you think that's going to go? And we didn't overwhelm the nursing home system. That's where people died. People got sick taking care of them. Some nursing homes refused to release clients to hospitals. Long term care and COVID-19 are actually 2 different issues and yet you keep conflating them. Manitoba is so fortunate to be in the situation it is and people are clambering to screw it all up. If you are the self-proclaimed lefty you purport to be, you'd be more concerned about the wealthy living off the government through tax-evasion than you are about the working poor who have caught a break.

Daily confirmed coranvirus cases hit an all-time high of 40,000 in the United States. 1.4 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week, though the numbers are declining. Canadian charities are asking for more government aid due to economic crisis and 'massive disruption.' British Health Secretary warns the government may close beaches following mass gatherings. India nears half a million confirmed cases after its biggest 24-hour increase on Friday. Trump administration seeks to invalidate the Affordable Care Act. Texas shuts down bars again after a resurgence of cases. Canada is nearly self-sufficient in PPE production, says Trudeau.

Have made many posts about the virus response from Trump and his Administration, and what a abject disaster it has been. But now I may have to rethink things.... Listened to Mike Pence, just now, and discovered that the current situation is actually some sort of rare species of total victory.....

The cognitive dissonance is astounding. "According to the Poll Tracker's aggregation of all publicly available polls, the Liberals have the support of 40.3 per cent of decided voters, an increase of just over seven percentage points since the October vote. The Conservatives, under outgoing leader Andrew Scheer, trail with 28.4 per cent, a drop of six points."

The answer hasn't changed since this started. If health care systems are overwhelmed, we are in trouble. People don't need to die from COVID-19 (even though they are) for this to be a significant health threat regardless of your (or my) politics.

Once upon a time....the pandemic was raging in mostly in Blue States. You had Trump and his administration downplaying it, spreading misinformation, media bashing, deflecting wildly, denying responsibility, attacking Governors, threatening blackmail with PPE and pressuring Red States to re-open ASAP, despite all expert medical advice...... Naturally, Trump's base and the craven GOP Legislative cowards seemed perfectly fine with this. The Right wing media was playing their typical enabling role as well..... Now the Red States are being scourged, particularly in the Southwest. The Governors of a number of these States made the conscious decision, to ape Donald Trump, by suppressing information, playing dumb, and encouraging people to ignore PPE (masks) and social distancing. For what? To make Orange Boss happy? A "States rights" thing? MAGA? What makes it even more ridiculous is that now these same "leaders" are pleading for Federal help and direction....and are currently receiving the same thing the Blue States got - NOTHING. Did they honestly expect something different here? As if Trump actually cared about THEM? Or his deluded base? Or for that matter anyone? Plenty of people on this board could see where this was going. Couple of months ago.... I stated that thousands of Americans would pay a terrible price of having Trump as President The bill has come due....

So they are going to go with the "he was a rookie but he's learned now" strategy.... won't work, trump hasn't the humility to admit to mistakes and his biggest problems are the most recent ones.

The Trump administration is blameless, this virus thing has nothing to do with them, US had more PPE and ventilators than they knew what to do with, testing is overrated, and unnecessary, the virus will fade in the warmer weather, social distancing and masks are an impediment, a bit of bleach and the right air filtration is all that is needed, Trump has handled this thing perfectly, a 10 out of 10, no need to take any responsibility for this whatsoever..... This would be funny stuff, if you discount the 120,000 dead citizens.... As is, merely crazy....
