And Sweden has more cases per capita than we do, and they have more ACTUAL deaths than we do. More deaths for country with a quarter of our population is a lot. Sweden is not a good model for fighting COVID.

Based on worldometers.info stats (compiled from Johns Hopkins and WHO data, and cited by Floyd in an earlier post), your statement that Denmark in a lockdown is doing as bad as Sweden in non-lockdown is wrong. Your next statement that Sweden a week ago had a 3.82% mortality rate is, well I won't say wrong, I prefer to say it's a lie. As of April 13 - Sweden: population 10.099 million (#91 in the world), 10,948 cases (19th), 919 deaths (14th), 91 deaths per million pop. (12th), and a mortality rate of 8.4% (deaths/total cases) Denmark: population 5.792 million (#115 in the world), 6,318 cases (31st), 285 deaths (26th), 41 deaths per million pop. (20th), and a mortality rate of 4.5% (deaths/total cases) Finland: population 5.540 million (#116 in the world), 3,064 cases (46th), 59 deaths (52nd), 11 deaths per million pop. (48th), and a mortality rate of 1.9% (deaths/total cases) Norway: population 5.421 million (#119 in the world), 6,551 cases (29th), 134 deaths (34th), 25 deaths per million pop. (27th), and a mortality rate of 2.0% (deaths/total cases) One week ago, Sweden had 477 deaths and 7,206 cases, for a mortality rate of 6.6% Helps your argument if you don't make stuff up to back your hypothesis.

Did some math. (Numbers from CBC coronavirus tracker) Death rate of Denmark= 273/6369*100= 4.3% Death rate of Sweden=899/10483*100=8.6% Sweden's death rate (to the nearest tenth) is exactly double that of Denmark's. How is that about the same? And that approach is precisely how you overrun the healthcare system. The prolonging is so that the system can actually accommodate everyone who gets coronavirus. Otherwise, more people die because they can't receive proper treatment.

  19. Wow. With Vince not paying out coaches money they are owed i view it as the XFL is never coming back. Last time around he at least paid everyone for the full first season to leave the door open for a return at some point.

Putting aside your mis-information on numbers, could you please cite what proof you have that a non-lockdown will save the economy, and a long-term lockdown will "crater" it as you say? Yeah the stock market is down and people are filing unemployment claims, but who is to say that long-term we can re-open and handle a second wave better because of the drastic measures now, or that the economy won't bounce back (it did in 1987, 2001, 2008), or that biting the bullet now will actually keep the economy afloat anyway? I'd be curious to hear your argument as to what is happening today is somehow irreversible, and why it is a black and white "save lives, kill the economy vs. risk lives, save the economy" pre-ordained result. Sources to back up your argument, if you please.

Well... once you look deeper into these countries... Copenhagen and Stockholm - have about the same population and urban density - so they are very comparable and very comparable to Toronto Both cities have about half the population density as Milan - the epicentre in Italy. Covid is an urban issue - even the rural municipalties in Italy did not get hit hard...

Its also been well established that the Obama admin had a pandemic response drill planned for the transition and Trump admin didnt want any part of it. In terms of the local announcements, glad to hear MPI looking at a rebate. Makes logical sense and a way to return some money to manitobans.

Sweden is not successful. They are a country of 5 million with 10,000 cases & the mortality rate is nearly 9%. How is that successful? Their healthcare system will collapse like Italy. the government is playing with innocent lives. And Nicaragua? That is a country ripe with drug gangs & a generation ago was ruled by the Marxist & ruthless Sandinistas.

For you assholes wanting to go to your cottage. Stay the **** home...
  45. If we are looking at a situation where the entire season will be lost personally Id like to see the league look at playing all games in front of empty stands somewhere where the players can be isolated similar to what major league baseball is considering. The teams would save a lot of money on travel costs because you could rent apartments for all the players and there would be no travel costs once you go the players to the area of choice. Teams could lay off event staff, much office staff, and slash football operations salaries for one season. TSN I think would be willing to pay something extra right now to help make this happen because they are so desperate for content and have a vested interest in the survival of the CFL.

that's such a special thing you did. my dad got me hooked with season tickets in the 90's. it was such a great thing to do together even when they sucked. the bombers brought us closer together and i'm a fan for life. man, what a gift. he'll always remember that.
