Just going to go back and delete the posts where I thought he wouldn't play and if he did, he would just get injured. Then, I'll go and erase all the posts where I said he wouldn't re-sign. I really wasn't expecting to have to do a lot of work today. This is going to seriously impact my forum surfing.

Nichols , in the end, will always be a successful Bomber QB. He took a 1-4 team in 2016 and propelled us to where we are today, contenders and now champions. He saved everyones jobs and it's a shame he had to go, but, it's the right football move. Good for Walters and whoever else was in on this decision to choose Zach over Matt. Couldn't have been easy. Legit don't get the griping about the "guaranteed" money, because that term has transitioned away from "cap hit" and nobody has really noticed. Collaros' injury risk is that he's going to miss significant time with a concussion - if that happens, whatever his cap hit is minus the signing bonus is off the cap anyways, because he'll be 6-gamed instantly. I'll wait to see what his signing bonus was, but reality is that Walters and company understand the comparables and the financial implications way better than any of us do and they surely weren't in a position to have to pay way above market for Collaros. If his signing bonus is dead cap money because of an injury? Meh. That really doesn't matter too much because at that point, chances are our season is toast anyways and it's the same risk associated with ANY starting QB. You can't have one without paying big upfront dollars.

Toronto did not get Nichols? The trade is a 1st rounder for Collaros and a Grey Cup..... We made out like bandits with that trade! I'll trade a 1st rounder for a starting QB + Grey Cup any day.

This is the signing we needed. Anything else is gravy.

This offence will look pretty different with Buck and Collaros instead of LaPo and Nichols. Looking forward to some medium and deep routes and less checkdowns.

Instead of signing Nichols, that money is better used to re-up Willie and Drake. Besides, if he does sign with the NFL, I'm not convinced Strev will make it past training camp.

If the BB still want him, this has got to be an incentive for Darvin to re-sign. He looked like a completely different receiver when catching passes from ZC....used much more effecctively.

Nichols was $455K last year and that was overpaid. Collaros is $490K. That's below Reilly, BLM and Harris. Is Collaros, especially considering his injury history, the 4th best QB in the league? Only $50K in playtime bonuses considering the concussion issues is dumb IMO. I think we overpaid, but I'd rather have Collaros than Nichols.

Not sure if he's done, but, I think the Bombers and their medical staff are likely a bit less optimistic about his post surgery throwing shoulder than Nichols and his agent are. I like Nichols. And he played well for the Bombers. Thanks for that. But, Collaros is a better QB right now. He proved it in the Grey Cup run. And peak Collaros was always better than peak Nichols.

That's why I said basically. The net effect of this signing is Nichols and the 1st are gone. We traded a 3rd rounder for that Grey Cup win. The 1st is to keep him for the next two seasons.

Also as a CFL fan, it doesn't hurt TO getting our 1st round pick. Better them than Sask.

I was really impressed with how involved Whitehead was with cheerleading and celebrating despite being a healthy scratch. He was quite obviously committed to "being there" and "being ready", the way other guys reacted to him it seems like everybody really felt like he had good reason to be celebrating just like the players who ended up on the field for the big game (which IMO means they felt he contributed)

If Bolton is going to make cash, later on his inside knowledge of administration things. He might as well show the money under oath. Instead of being blocked from testifying, like every single other person of interest, with the Trump administration.
